Western WAC

Good luck to the remaining WAC schools who are hurting because of C-USA expansion. We have been there. We know what it's like to be snubbed--twice. Please be happy for us. We need a little love.

The WAC will come out okay. We had to go this route.

I agree, Nacho, I'm gonna feel pretty bad for them. I'll remain a little nervous, however, until this actually happens.

ME TOO! They thought it was a lock last time CUSA was looking to expand, and look what happened. I'm not going to start celebrating until it is a done deal.

You feel sorry for Hawaii and FSU who have been begging to get in the MWC? They would have left us in a heartbeat. I feel sorry for them like I feel sorry for TCU. They thought they had left poor ole SMU to go to better things and end up right back with us. My guess is that the entry fee isn't going to be as stiff as TCU paid. CUSA isn't as good of a conference with the departures and new additions. It is better for us though.
The real losers today are SJSU, FSU and Hawaii. I think Nevada and/or BSU will get an MWC bid but the rest will be filler only if MWC goes to 12.

hey guys - let's hold on for a moment...the fat lady is on stage but she ain't singing yet.

i feel good but i'm just being cautious & optimistic at the same time....we've been thru this too many times in the last decade.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

3 or 4 of them will be saved when the MWC expands...the losers could be : UTEP/SJSU

My bets are for MWC to add, in this order:

BSU (highest ranked WAC team past 3 years), Nevada (UNLV partner),
Fresno State (hey, good program, just changed standards),
Hawaii (an extra game)
TCU (better than picking up what's left over from WAC for strength of schedule)
UTEP (old WAC team has some ties and convenience to NMex)

I want TCU to be left out of the MWC for two reasons:

1. So they can feel the slap we felt when they got the C-USA bid a few years ago and we didn't, and
2. To keep them in the same conference as SMU. There's no reason two schools so similar and so close (geographically) shouldn't be in the same league. That rivalry is as natural as any.

I would not be surprised if the powers that be at SMU got a commitment out of TCU that they would stay in c-usa before they agreed to make this move.
