Give me Cavan any day of the week. Cavan's tenure here looks pretty impressive after the mess Bennett created. Cavan is probably laughing his rear off at the mess SMU has created....just as you think SMU cannot dig a bigger hole for itself......at least the new coach will not have big shoes to fill.

It's really a pointless debate. Let's just move on. It was all pretty bad. We had a worthless A.D. most of those years who wouldn't fight to make things better or make better hires. The model was bad etc.

give me the early Dement years compared to the current first two Doherty seasons too. and please dont try to say that Dement was given the keys to a Cadillac either.

The problem wasn't Dement's first two years, it was the last 5. I will gladly give Doherty 9 years - and then compare the two records.

Yeah, I have to agree Treadway. Those last five years with Dement were stellar. Especially that last one. He was probably too involved with Rhonda to notice.

Just glad we got that coach afterwards with all the Dallas High school contacts. He was really something.
