Should we expect another attendance miracle?

Postby SmooBoy » Wed Oct 15, 2003 1:39 pm

I know the Boy Scouts were at the UTEP game and area students are coming to a future game. Does marketing have any tricks up their sleeves that will propel us above 15K fans for Boise?

I bet if we reach 15,000, it will be almost exactly 15,000. Boise's a real good team, but nobody knows who they are. I'm a pretty diligent student of the game, and until I read the preview on the PF.com homepage, I couldn't name one player outside of Dinwiddie. At least this game isn't being held on OU/Texas weekend. Then it would have been completely deserted.

My guess: 12,000 or so. And it will be the smallest crowd of the year. Rice, Fresno and TCU will be larger - probably in that order.

Here is the promo for the Boise game.

From smumustangs.com
Presented by Crayola:
• ATTENTION KIDS: All kids can attend the game for only $5!
• ADULTS: Purchase end-zone tickets for $9 to Saturday's contest.
• POST-GAME CARNIVAL - Games, rides, clowns and prizes, 2 hrs. after the game - entry is FREE!

Hopefully they plan on advertizing this in the DMN.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

As of Monday, there were 12,000 tickets that had been distributed amongst all sources.

Not that I doubt you, but who, what, where is your source for that number? I'd just like to know if its someone reliable.

I've got to think we can get a few extra people if Saturday is nice weather-wise. I would be pleased with 17.5K, and punch-drunk happy with 20K+. The recent C-USA news can't hurt us.
