Once again, the admin draws us in, tells us we are going to win and we LOSE. Not lose to Memphis, but lose to schools in towns that none of us have ever heard of (okay we may gamble in sleezeport).
The WORST thing you can do is to underestimate an opponent in College BBall. And many in this thread are not giving any kind of credit to Southern, Ala. St, and Centenary. For all you any one of these teams could be NCAA tourney teams this year. Perhaps they SHOULD beat SMU, because they are better teams. I am guessing that many of you on this board have no familiarity with Southern, Ala. St, and Centenary's BBall programs and the direction that they are headed in.
Since we are all familiar with TCU - the frogs will be a good test.
Dude, you need a serious reality check. It would have been somewhat understandable to have lost ONE of those games and blame it on a young team having an off nite or something, but you just can't justify losing all three by double digits. Unless there is a miraculous turaround, my money says we will be 0-6 heading into the TCU game so I don't think that will be our "good test" game. I sincerely hope I am wrong about 0-6, but if you can't beat cupcakes at home you aren't going to beat Dayton or UTSA on the road, and I don't see us outscoring Paul Quinn.
Can we please drop the zone. I saw the 1st and 3rd games. We got absolutely killed by the 3s. Not only were they shooting lights out from the arc but we weren't shooting 2s until a brick was thrown up as time was expiring. It would be an improvement if we were giving up 3s for 2s instead of 3s for 0s. Just a suggestion.
I don't think we'll see it go away. Shortly after Doh was hired, a tarheel fan posted that we'd grow to hate the zone & the high opponent 3pt%. We told him we'd already seen that w/ Dement. Again, let's just meet halfway and go to a 1-3-1 matchup zone w/ Bamba in the middle.
