...passed up what would've been a dream season at KU to come here. They're undefeated and will play in front of 80k at Arrowhead next weekend. We're....well, we all know what and where we are. I feel for you, man.
Thanks for being a Mustang all the same.

To make matters worse, they moved him to tight end and sat one of the highest rated recruits we signed that year on the bench.

Can anyone explain to me why a team that runs the Pistol and continually under-utilizes TEs continues(d) to recruit TEs and FBs, or convert others to the positions?
Did we not need that kind of bulk at DL or LB? I know size isn't all of it, but these coaching staffs had to have spent half their time teaching new positions because they left or created huge holes in their roster. Throw Cavan in there too.

We have FBs? If we do, we need to convert them to LBs to get some size on defense. BTW one LB I am interested in seeing next year is Herron. He is supposed to be a pretty good tackler and VERY fast. I don't think we blew his redshirt this year so he should have gained some strength and weight for the position next year.

in our type of offense, the TE is the FB...and in the spread, the TE is an integrel part of the offense...its just that we dont have a coach smart enough to run plays for the TE/just cant get the damn ball to them at all
Andrew McKinney, but they didn't even use him there and now I see they have him listed as TE. Remember that 4 and 1 they put Martin in at FB and Mapps @ RB, and Martin got hurt.
4 TEs on this team? Why?! Look at the size of these guys. Could we not have used them somewhere else?
45 Andrew McKinney 6-4 265 TE JR-2L Decatur, Texas (Decatur)
82 Austin Michelsen 6-4 260 TE SO-TR Arlington, Texas (Texas Tech)
65 Jackson Taylor 6-3 245 TE JR-2L Houston, Texas (Houston Christian)
81 Mario Walker 6-2 230 TE SO-1L Marshall, Texas (Marshall)

you know everyone keeps saying we run the Pistol and that is incorrect. The Pistol was invented by Nevada Coach Chris Ault. Watch a Nevada game-almost every play they line up with QB 4 yards from Center but the TB in a deep formation 8 yards back. I've watched Nevada for the last weeks and SMU does not run the real Pistol as its main offense. If we did we wouldn't be complaining that Martin needs to run downhill. The Pistol is essentially the I Formation w/o a FB and with the QB 4 yards back. BTW McKinney got hurt.
Stallion, I don't give a rip what it is called (Run-n-shoot, Fun and Gun, Spread, Pistol, PeaShooter, Water Gun, or Wet Sporting News). It's an offense that uses one RB and multiple WRs. So why do we have guys on the roster who are TEs? Did any of these guys do anything on offense this year? NO, they didn't.
And McKinney got hurt recently. He nearly broke some guy in half on a KO in the UTEP game.
The point is, this offense is not a new thing so why are we still recruiting TE's for an offense that fundamentally DOES NOT use them. I would actually prefer a more traditional offense, but you have to have the horses. At this point, I just want to win.

Bennett and Co. do not know how (never will) to use Tight Ends. If fact they do not know what a tight-end U is. Take Vincent Chase, should of been rated 4 -star. Look at his bio., came to SMU as one of the top tight-ends in the nation and rated DMN as # 1 TE in Texas. LSU and Florida Coaches came to their home wanting Chase, they saw something about him otherwise why would they waste their time. Look at all those championship Schools that wanted him. Vincent Chase sacrificed more than any other player to play at SMU and what for? To play 30% of time, talent never being culivated and utilized. they use TE's for Blockers. These players that love football, know the game, always studing plays, hard working team players.dreams were of NFL and bringing SMU program to the fullest going to a Bowl. These Players are not the ones laughing and cuttin-up at the games when we are lossing .They are apalled at the those players actions and character.
I feel for these Talented and dedicated players and their families. They bought in with promises and BS from Bennett. I truely pray for a Coach that can clean up Bennett mess and not all the talent and hard-work been in vain for these Players that really care.
