everyone else is hiring ou assistant coaches now a days why not smu

might not be a bad hire at all. Turner Gill would be a great hire for SMU. But i understand we need an experienced name...if we can get one.

I think it's been blue for the past 20 years. Hopefully, we'll get to change that.

I blame it all on third down thunder.

Two of the worst ideas in the history of our once storied program.

Just how sad is third down thunder. It's beyond sad.

If that is beyond sad, what is Third Down Thunder BROUGHT TO YOU BY MUSTANG REALTY?

Everything you do or mention is always BROUGHT TO YOU BY something...its just how the marketing economy is these days

Here what you are saying.

I would love to see the economics behind:

Third Down Thunder BROUGHT TO YOU BY MUSTANG REALTY

Speaking of economics - how about the economics of waving the white flag on the season and take a forfeit next week. We could use that savings in travel costs towards hiring our new football coach - and maybe a basketball coach who can beat the lesser Methodist schools.

If we forfeit NOW, we can have a press conference tomorow morning for our new coach!!!

On second thought, a forfeit is a little too harsh on the kids. Leave Gush and Bennett behind and let Vic Viloria go coach the defense for a week.

For those of you with Johnsonitis, I really don't think he'll be our coach for several reasons. (1) Dallas is nice, but Annapolis is one of a kind. Right on the Chesapeake Bay, sail boating, blue crabs, that's hard to leave. (2) He'd have to be offered more than he's making now which is a Million. I just don't see that being offered. (3) He is under contract with Navy and Navy is on our schedule the next two years. I don't see us getting a waiver to talk to him. I have no clue who will be the coach, but Johnson probably won't be it as much as I would love to have him come and win and see Stallion have to eat a great big ca-ca sandwich.

Perhaps we could then eliminate the multitude of blown coverages, stupid penalties and frequent turnovers.

I hope we have a big, fat budget to hire some top-notch coordinators and assistant coaches. The bargain basement/blue light special pittance doesn't work.

Was out of town for business this weekend, and wasn't able to get to the game.

I am still having a very hard time with these reports that Orsini is discussing these details in public. Terry Bowden is a safety net? If anyone hasn't noticed, there are more jobs opening every day.

Butch Davis to SMU?? Come on guys! If he goes ANYWHERE after only one very BAD season at NC it would be Arkansas!

Who said Orsini is discussing details in public? It isn't at all the way you characterize it. It's not like Orsini is out screaming the details on the BLVD. Orsini is asked questions and from his answers/comments things can be read between the lines. From what my source told me, Orsini plays the "cat & mouse" game quite well. If Barnett's name is mentioned he grins and says "I think we can do better than that". What do you think that means? If Mike Shula's name is mentioned he grins and says "excellent candidate". Thats not exactly "discussing" details. Orsini didn't say Bowden was a "safety net", but someone from within the athletic deprtment said that. But hey thats why it's called a rumor.

The reading between the lines rumor that I heard on the Boulevard on Saturday was that Mike Leach is leaving Texas Tech to come to the Hilltop.

Potenital OC candidates include Tom Rossley and PB might accept the DC position.

Who doesn't? Modern slave labor is cheaper than one of those sponge-on-a-stick things to wash your back, and you don't have to go into the women's section of the store to pick up an illegal.

Stallion is a crazy man if he doesn't like the idea of PJ. Guy is a phenomenal coach and his offenses are nearly unstoppable. As a an X and O's guy, he may be the best in the entire search.

Stallion discounts the X's and O's in favor of recruiting. Of course it takes both. But I agree with him completely that Johnson might have a lot of difficulty recruiting Texas.
