Tickets & Mustang Club Guarantee

Postby Duke Blue Blood » Sun Nov 18, 2007 3:07 pm

I would love the admin to start giving us a money back guarantee on tickets and Mustang Club dues.

Anything you are PUSHED this hard to buy, should come with a warning label and the ability to return it. I am not giving up yet, but is tough to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

did anyone see what the Tennessee women's program is doing? Because their attendance has fallen off the past couple of years, they are offering free tuition to one lucky student at the end of the season. To qualify, you have to attend 10 of the team's 14 home games...and then you are in the drawing.

I'll bet we could increase student attendance by at least 15-20 per game if we offered that same deal, ya think?

Do not recall that my MC donation was only for revenue sports. I thought it was for the entire athletic program and that is why I give.

Season tickets to both football and men's basketball. Attend most soccer and many women's basketball. It is impossible to attend all SMU athletic activities and work and have a life. Also some are not easily amenable to fan attendance. I am a soccer fan so I attend all those games I can. If I was a die hard swimming, tennis or volleyball fan, I would attend those events. Low attendance at non-revenue sports does not mean we should not support our entire athletic program with our money. Support for non-revenue sports frees up money for FB and BB. Like it or not, if we are going to have football and men's basketball, we have to have the other programs so we might as well have non-revenue programs that reflect well on the school. I just wish we could get track back as a full program. Really helps the football program and meets are fun to attend. Again, I view my MC donation as a donation to the entire athletic program (although I do give extra money to the soccer program). Winning or losing in the revenue sports has no effect on my MC donation . Just the way I see it.

Unfortunately you are probably right. Although most of my SMU tailgate friends feel the way I do.

we need to do this for football, but say anyone who goes to everygame can with $30k. open it up to everyone, and not just students and we'd get 25,000 a game, easy

Except that the last time we had a track program, it was nothing but a bunch of European throwers - no sprinters, or even American throwers like Michael Carter, that could combo in football.

That is why I preferenced my opinion with the word "full". Have no problem with the throwers, but we need sprinters and jumpers. Of course this means we need the same for the women and this all adds up to a big financial hit on the budget. We need a rich track benefactor.
