Bennett's Ride into the Sunset

Post by perunapower »

DMN article

I still wish Bennett could have gotten it done here. He's a real classy guy, but unfortunately that isn't enough.

You are right. I bet the folks in Alabama wish Saban had some class. Has his ego made him stupid or what?

As much as I was for firing Bennett over the last 3 years, this guy is one class act. Almost makes me want to call of the coach search. I wish him the best.

Here here. Agreed and then some.
He is indeed a class act, and I think we all wish he could've gotten it done here. Unfortunately, life has its turns, and as he states, he has been through worse before. Much, much worse. The Hilltop and its football foibles don't hold a candle to it. SMU isn't worth fretting over compared to that.
Good luck on Saturday, Coach. I hope you pull one out...for nobody but you and your boys.

Not to rain on anybody's parade....

There have been a few posts over the years and whispers out there that PB really isn't the great guy that the general Mustang Nation thinks....

With that said, PB has always been gracious to Darth.

Let's all have one last sip of Kool-Aid for old time's sake!

Any and everybody that works in the profession of team sports has to be a pretty good individual. Putting up with athletes on a daily basis. PB has touched the lives of hundreds of players and families. He will be missed by many, but maybe not all.

I do congratulate PB (and the players) on the 100% graduation rate. They are student athletes and I'm proud that the academic side of things has been accomplished at such a high level.

Isnt' there a pretty solid correlation between 100% graduation rates and little success on the football field? PB and the "faithful 1500" would surely have given up some of the graduation rate to have some winning seasons............

I wish Phil every success in all future endeavors. I hope the players play balls out on Saturday to give him a win to end his career at SMU. The guy is a class act and I wish he could have had more success in his tenure here.
