Complete Meltdown

Postby Nacho » Sat Oct 18, 2003 6:58 pm

I hope you apologists liked the game toady. You deserved it. Look for more of the same this and next year. When will you learn?

Boise is a good team but they are not in the same class as either TT ot OSU. They aren't even a top 25 team and they had their way with us. This is a bad team. It is a badly coached team. Period.

Now we have to wait a couple of years until your savior Copeland brings himself to admit that he made a misstake. Good luck with that.

Bring back Cavan. He is a genius compared to this.

This is the first time that I can remember an SMU team playing with such obvious lack of emotion. Completely flat. No desire. Did they quit? You tell me. Maybe they did. Maybe they have quit on Bennett. I don't know. All I know is that I saw one of the most lackluster performances in SMU football history.

Oh my god. Cavan never had this sort of QB situation. He had David Page and Kelan Luker in his last year as coach. Do you not realize how much better QB's those two really were?

The problem is that we lost our best recievers in Cardwell and Hampton and Bartel has not learned a damn thing. How much of that is coaching I'm not sure. But I see a problem with talent at the playmaker positions that we lost last year. Also, the bottom of the WAC teams have improved from last year. Now we're getting crushed. What do you expect.

I saw a defense that gave up 17 points in the first quarter and 45 for the game to a team that is not even in the top 25 and only beat Tulsa at home by 6. Bartel wasn't great today but tell me one player that was. Bennett wants a scapegoat so his choice is Bartel. He has never liked him. This was coming. Good luck to Bartel. He deserved better than this team, its fans and its coaches.

They're "not even in the top 25," but their Sagarin is 38, not too shabby. Probably the 3rd best team we'll see this year.

So it's okay to lose 45-3 to a team ranked #38? Is that the logic? Okay I'll buy it. 42 looks pretty good to me now. Why are we changing QBs if losing by 42 is okay? I don't get it. Explain.

I'm not saying it's "okay." I don't like this any more than you. I'm saying Boise is 38. We're sitting pretty at 166. There are something like 30 1-AA teams ranked ahead of us, including 3 Ivy League teams. So, yeah, we just lost by 42 to a team that's not even in the top 25.

About 50 1-aa teams are ahead of us. That is truly pathetic. 1-aa teams. Fordham and Colgate are ahead of us. They would be favord if they played us. Surely our recruiting was better than Fordham and Colgate. Why are we #166? Our recruiting has been in the 90s until recently. Something does not add up.

there are a number of people that were furious at Bartel for laughing, and cutting up on the bench after Tate came in. Not to mention that he ducks and dodges to keep from getting hit.

I've noticed Bartel's demeanor also on the bench. We are getting killed and he has his helmet off and is laughing and joking with the players, oblivious to the defense being mauled, or his own lack of performance. He SHOULD be canned!

Do you think maybe Bennett never liked him because he doens't take his role seriously?

You people are clueless.

I was sitting right behind the bench. What are you talking about? If anything he looked very dejected to me. I didn't see any laughing or joking around. Why would you say that?

"You people are clueless. "

You should include yourself in that statement Florida, cause you dont have a damn clue about whats going on. I can promise you that nothing about this situation is humorous to Richard. Nor is your insinuation that he doesnt take his role seriously anywhere close to accurate. Since you dont know what you are talking about, keep your mouth shut.

You're such a joke JAF. Get a grip on reality: Bartel can't even start for a team as bad as SMU.

You're an [deleted]. And a Frog. I don't know which is worse right now.

For your info, I know exactly how Richard acts. I remember us having to go pick his [deleted] up because he overslept for practice. Or the times his car kept "breaking down." Not a great way to impress your new coach.
