TCU bites...I'm so sick of

Postby echothat1 » Sat Oct 18, 2003 8:32 pm

them right now. They are so overrated...Texas (#20), Florida or Auburn (#25)and plenty more would kick the cr*p out of them...

They're over their whining about SMU joining their conference and how it will destroy all of their chances for blah, blah, blah...F TCU!!!

TCU ain't a team right now that could compete regularly week-to-week with Top 20 teams but you've got to give them an A+ for resilency. What would the Pony Express have been if Eric Dickerson and Craig James and Lance McIllhenny were hurt. I doubt we would have been undefeated.

Overrated as they are, and as much as I HATE them, you got to give them credit for finding a way to win every week. Says a little something about them, that the game is in doubt nearly every time, and they still win.

Did anyone see (or see highlights of) the Oklahoma State/Texas Tech game yesterday? Unbelievable game. Both of those teams would obliterate TCU.

Yeah I'm not so sure that Tech can't stand-toe-to-toe with OU on offense but they struggle on defense since they have had to rebuild their entire defense with only about 3 returning starters. Has a team ever lost a game with 38 first downs and 661 yards before? The OSU-OU and the OU-Tech game at least ought to be entertaining although I suspect that OU's dominant defense will be the difference in both games.

Whoa is TCU...Whoa is TCU...that's all over the TCU message boards about the new C-USA deal...please

They barely squeaked by South Florida and UAB, yet they believe SMU isn't even worthy to be in the same conference as TCU...I believe Boise State would beat the crap out of them after the performance they put on last night against UAB.

Besides, at least we play teams like TT and OSU...TCU signs up to play the weak "big conference" teams...Let's see them play the schedule we've had this year...they'd be at least 4-3 and ranked #44 right now.

Go Southern Miss...

Hey Echo, I think you mean "woe is TCU." Just thought I'd help you out with that one. They do teach us some things here at TCU. I hate to tell you but UAB would have beaten you guys almost as bad as Boise did, and there's no way that SMU would walk into South Florida and beat that team. Get over it, we are light years ahead of your team. If Phillips is playing when we come to town he better wear an extra rib protector, because our defense has knocked out several opposing QB's, and yes that includes mobile ones.

Uhhh...the last I checked, TCU plays defense. But, if it makes you feel good to make ignorant posts, then have at it.

every SMU fan with any sense whatsoever should appreciate the success TCU has had in recent years. Without their success and their humiliating us on the football field the last 4 yrs, our administration might be content to go on fielding 1-10 football teams.

The fact of the matter is that SMU and TCU are "sister" schools and have a lot in common. We have had a very competitive football history and right now we are taking a beating during this down period. Does anyone believe the SMU community will allow that to continue indefinitely? These two schools have been much too competitive with each other for that to happen. The tide will turn, I have no doubt about that...but it certainly appears we are looking at a 6-7 game losing streak before we might legitimately have a chance to beat the Frogs again.

What's wrong with you people...not only are many of you wearing rose-colored glasses about the current state and future of SMU football and its coaches, but you're supporting and defending the friggin' horney toads...a group of jack-offs that don't believe we are worthy to play in their conference and are threatening to move to another conference because of us...

Look at the facts...TCU has not played a decent opponent all year...they barely beat UAB who is looking to go 6-6 and lost to Troy State!!

Do you think bowing down to this over-hyped TCU team is going to make those idiots who want to move to the MWC change their opinion?...do you really think that TCU fans aren't laughing their @$$es off at the smells eminating from SMU this year?

I wish more people posted on mustangmaniacs.com. You almost get the sense on this board that SMU football is something currently to be proud of...

Hello all, I'll try to contribute...

Yep, most are not too happy, but if you were in our position you would probably not be either.

Non-con scheduling is for the most part dumb to argue about. When Arizona was scheduled they were a top 10 program, now... We scheduled series with Vandy, Navy, and Northwestern back in the mid-90's when we were not so good. So do we get praised for playing the Big Ten co-champs in 2000 but ridiculed for playing a Big Ten doormat in 2002 and 2004? We play Tech, Northwestern, and you next year in non-con (obviously this may change), and OU, Arkansas, and Stanford in the future (once again, when Stanford was scheduled 2 years ago they were coming off an 8-4 season I believe, now...). Non-conference games are now scheduled so far in advance you have no idea how good the team will be.

Our starting backfield has been injured since the 3rd game, and I'll take 7-0 anyday no matter who is on the schedule.

USF had won something like 21 in a row at home before we beat them.

OSU, Tech, and BSU would not destroy us, they would be good games to watch though.

Let's be honest and generous. We can't elevate ourselves by knocking TCU. What's the point? They are holding the flag for small private schools until we return to competitiveness. However, I have never felt TCU would gain by moving out of CUSA. Our focus should be on how we move into the reconfigured conference, win the West Division (with or without TCU) and go to CUSA bowls.

The Frogs may be inflating their prospects but they did earn this high opinion of themselves. They would be better served in CUSA while maintaining a competitive program with a more rational athletic budget in the SW. Being the odd school out in the Central Time Zone and penalizing all your other student athletes while focused on the perception that MWC is better now much into the future would be silly on their part. That's the reason they should be more rational, not because it is a way to stick it to us. That's our issue, not their's.

With 2003 another rebuilding year, let's remind ourselves that we will now have the conference we need, a coach who will recruit Division 1 talent and the prospect that this cycle too will end. Nothing remains static, TCU success or our difficulties. Last time I checked, SMU has played traditional college athletics and FB for more than 80 years. We will win and succeed again. Yes, I know our patience is stretched. So what. Until recently, we hadn't made the commitment necessary. We are moving in the direction now. Go Ponies!
