ROFL... I haven't been to the B-Ball board in about 2 or 3 days.... but I was about to post the exact same response. Good thing I decided to read the entire thread before posting. ![]() Eric Dickerson in Pony Excess "I've love winning man, it's like better than losing." - Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh
I agree with his opinion on why we are sitting at 0-3 against poor competition right now and that is why I blame him for the loss against Southern. It was his responsibility to calm the team down when the 18 point lead started shrinking, and figure out a way to get the ball inside instead of allowing them to continually shoot jumpers in the second half. The good news is he obviously understands the problem and I think the long layoff is going to help them. I really wish our next game wasn't Dayton on the road because the potential for these losses to snowball is a great concern in my opinion. He set this schedule up to build their psyche with wins, and NOBODY dreamed it was possible that we could actually lose the cupcake games. The other good news is that this team has shown glimpses of real talent and potential that I haven't seen at Moody since the Sasser/Ross days. The questions to be answered are, do these players have the intangebles that all winners possess to go along with their talent such as heart and desire, and does this coaching staff have the ability to coach and put these guys in a position to WIN!
the measurables of this freshmen class still look good. although i would say there is some question about the natural shooting ability which i thought would be more evident even now. the non measurables and maturity level is a bit of a concern, especially since a few of these guys are prep school kids, not Class 3A high school kids who have been tucked away in small town texas.
I couldn't agree more. SOMEONE has got to step up and become a legitimate, consistent shooter. Dez certainly didn't fit the consistent bill, but he sure did hit his share of clutch baskets when the game was on the line. I think Doh made a mistake by not making him feel a little more welcome.
Killen has the shot, but he won't take it. I do wish he would put it up A LOT more than he does!
Another needed intangeble is confidence and a little swagger. Sasser is the last guy on the hilltop that had both talent and swagger. You can argue that he had a little too much swagger, but he is the last guy to wear an SMU uniform that had the ability to take over a game. Hopkins had his moments when he was that guy, and you can certainly point out the fact that he was surrounded by MUCH less talent than Sasser.
I think Alex Malone has shown glimpses of having the intangebles.
