My guess is that we'll be very pleased. Don't think it will be a Bowden, but I'm betting Steve-O comes through with a name coach.

By the way, it won't be Turned Gill. Only reason he'll leave Buffalo this year is if Tom Osborne calls to offer him the Nebraska job.

For those in the Orsini already has his man camp, if its Bowden or Barnett the announcement will be made this weekend or Monday at the latest. If its a current coach, then the announcement will not be made until at least the regular season has ended for the team where the coach is currently coaching. Thus, if its Paul Johnson for example it will not be until after the Army/Navy game. With Friegen, Tommy Bowden, Pellini, UT-Davis, and Norm Chow, it might be this weekend. If its an NFL coach, it would probably not be until mid-December at the earliest and probably not until the first of January (Eg. Shula, Doug Williams, Neuheisel). So, if there is no press conference by Monday, you'll know quite a bit about who it won't be and who is could be. I don't think they'd wait unti after a bowl game to announce a coaching hire as that would not be fair to the school the coach is leaving or to us.

Folks - as I told you early on in this process, there seems to be very little interest in this job. Orsini is swinging and missing. I have been told by two different sources SMU offered to both Kragthorpe and Nutt and has been turned down. Don't know but if the rumors that Greg Davis has been contacted about his interest are true this would fit with my personal research. Orsini is having to dig deep. That tells me we probably will not be happy. We may be lucky to get a coach period.

The information that SMU offered Nutt and that Nutt turned down SMU is incorrect.
