The approach is simple - recruit the best players you can get to your school and also who you can get enrolled at your school. If that is DISD then great - go for them. If it is elsewhere, thats fine also. No need to focus on one over another, and no need to suck up to the DISD cronies - for example your idea to take their lesser guys so you MIGHT have a shot at the better ones later? Thats nieve and dumb.

I'll take Dohs hard working get out there approach which covers the country instead of Tubbs dependence on his local "network" any day.

We will know in two years if it is a better way or not.

I didn't say take "lesser guys". What about this can you not comprehend? When you are taking flyers, which SMU invariably is doing all the time, take flyers on local kids rather than random california kids. there is no reason to think justin haynes type players are going to be any better than 15 kids found in the Metroplex annually. Several examples suited up for Centenary the other night. Another good example is Mike Walker. Sorry but there are many metroplex kids that have every bit of the talent and more upside than Walker. Nothing against these individuals, but if you want to recruit locally you have to show you are local program, not just talk about it. And if you think the players will flock to SMu when we start winning as you say, we'll see about that.

I can probably bet that Doh at least took aim at the best players in the "300 mile radius", but also recruited nationally. I am sure he offered the best players who responded to his efforts. As far as people trashing this class, this is still a solid class. The Roberts class cited above was thought to be a good class, but he players didn't turn out. The difference is that this class will probably be called upon to fill roles.
