If KRAG and BD (or others) announce that they are 'staying put' then the hire has already been made.
That's how 'candidates' back out of potential jobs.
And yes, many of you 'already knew this' so no smart [deleted] comments.

Not so sure about that. Saying he is staying put also keeps all of us guessing. None of us have a clue? This is the [deleted] we must go through.

Not necessarily. A candidate could say "I'm staying put" as a way of backing out, or as a way of saying "I'll listen to other job offers, but I have my heart set on School X ... or a place that pays X million more than the job in question," etc. All it means is they're saying that RIGHT NOW they're not interested. Hell, Nick Saban swore he wasn't going to be the coach at Alabama, right?
