I wish they would, Water Pony. Those were truly the BEST & the 60's era followed them!!!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

What does THAT have to do with anything. There have been others in the last 20 years that should have gotten it, including ATM and Alabama, but everyone knows it will never be used again and CERTAINLY not at a large state school.

Of course they should have, but they didn't. And no one else ever will. At some point, we need to stop hanging on to the DP and let it go ourselves.

As suggested, why not go farther back than the 80s for our look? Besides, the NCAA won't allow the cut-off jerseys anymore so it won't look nearly as cool. :D

i always have been and always will be a fan of the all white. it looks so good, and when you're playing smashmouth on real grass (away obviously) it makes us look tough (open to comments on how we won't get dirty)
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Maybe we could enlist Tommy Hilfiger and he could put together a patchwork uniform that included elements from all eras.

Oregon Ducks would have nothing on us!

My wife is into quilting. She would be glad to design a uniform but based on her 3 years of quilting and as of yet not put out one finished quilt, it might be a while before the uniforms were actually ready.

White helmets if we are at .500. Red helmets if our record is below .500. Black helmets if we are above .500.

"... and he could put together a patchwork uniform that included elements from all eras."

Not a bad idea if that.

But if college football is tradition, let's go back & see why Ron Meyer picked the white helmets. It was something that could only be traced back to a short time span of the late 50's. But why did he choose the white helmet. Was it heat? Was it something new? Was it clarity of the mustang logo - viewing it from afar? Remember that before Ron came, we had those hideous Dave Smith OSU helmets. Perhaps incorporate that into the tradition & why we're going back to the early 80's style. For the same reasons. You never know what the answer may be.

Now days, why not wear a retro uni & helmet like many colleges showcase on special occasions. But we'll do it a couple of times annually. Perhaps have a game or two a year with the 40's or 60's era & then we can satisfy all alums? Now that would be both interesting & great. In fact a new tradition. Much like the way the band works.

While we're at it, let's get back to the original school colors because thats definitely not debatable. I was at the bookstore this past weekend while visiting the family (in Texarkana) & as usual, it was a terrible selection. Two million different shades of both red & blue. Like many alums, I walked out of the store with some cheap pens & two great CD's of the SMU Band. Gosh, at least those are traditional & great!!!

On a side note, Rice also took B&N on & the alums (& probably students) are not happy, either. There sales are down & I'm sure ours are less than stellar than what they could be.

There are not really that many alums or otherwise that give a rat's [deleted] about the uniforms. But, if you want to Pony Up and purchase all this cosmetic throw back stuff... get your checkbook out.

I don't care if the uniforms are pink and green with My Little Pony on the helmet. If we have one more point than the other team when the game is over, it will all look good to me. :)
