According to ESPN, citing sources close to the Razorbacks, head coach Houston Nutt will not be with Arkansas next season. According to the sports network, Nutt is preparing to resign from the head coach position, despite the $2.4 million annual salary offered by chancellor John A. White to sway Nutt to remain with Arkansas.

$1.5M in 2008 = $600K in 2002 in the college coaching world. It is now an arms race. Hopefully, we will get better than a Phil Bennett this time.

I doubt any raise came with an extension and likely made it easier for Arkansas to walk away at the end of next year. If Nutt thought he could get security and a longer deal from another school, I expect his agent would advise him to walk.

I doubt it. ThereÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s a lot of speculation that he will take the Georgia Tech job. We probably canÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t compete with that either.

If Ray Hunt alone was willing to spend $35 MILLION for a small piece of land near campus, spending $2-$3 MILLION/year for a new head coach is CHICKEN FEED especially if he teams up with Sewell, Ford, and a few of the other multi-billion alumni that this school has!
