No BullI admit that I liked him before, bu this whole situation makes me like Bennett even more. I like a coach that has the gonads to kick his starting QB, maybe top two, off the team even when he knows his job is possibly on the line. The guy broke the rules and showed disrespect to the program and Coach said enough. You may hate him, but the man demands respect and I love that.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

Re: No BullI do too. I don't think Bennett wanted to see Bartel fail, no way. He's done nothing but praise him publicly. It is becoming apparent that Bartel forced this decision by his actions. I frankly think some good people on this board owe Bennett an apology over this one.

Re: No BullApparently, Phil Bennett gave Bartel every opportunity to take charge and be the leader/quarterback of the team. A coach can only do so much and then it's the responsibility of the player. For whatever reason, Bartel did not produce. I wish him well. Press on.
Re: No BullI'll admit it, I didn't have all the facts about the Bartel case, (and the truth sure as hell didn't come from this board) but I know enough that Bartel did this to himself. That said, Bennett should come on this board and apologize for his impressive run he has going.
I wasn't expecting to see SMU in today's latest BCS rankings, but I sure would like to see them more competitive than what they're showing. But that's all recruiting restrictions, lack of talent, etc. I didn't make up a name just to come talk SMU football, that wouldn't take me very far, but good luck with you guys in the future and I hope all ends well for Bartel and Bennett. I have learned in one day that these fan boards are more agitating than sitting at an SMU game. Unfortunately, you can't win at either sometimes. But I know nothing. According to this board we have a future Hall of Famer coach that will do no wrong, so the future is bright. Joyous, tell Chris to keep it up and finish strong. The hardest part for him must be the fact that he didn't have to come back and give everything he has for this treatment. That goes for alot of guys, but to see one of our best of all-time go through this is painful and I'm sure you must have it 10 times worse. Take care and best of luck to you all.
Re: No BullBartel - "one of our best all time"
Well this program really HAS reached new lows.
Re: No Bullwait a second, Bennett takes the blame all the time. Says he has to do a better job after every loss. Bennett has made several mistakes in my book. He has run up the middle with KK too many times, but thats kind of like criticizing the Boston Red Sox manager for leaving Pedro Martinez in too long. KK is the go to guy. Hindsight is always 20/20, we just havent made critical plays in 3 close games. That doesn't mean we can't start making them.
Re: No BullFlorida, you're truly a moron with so little to do. I was referring to Chris Cunningham. Read the entire post before you just run your mouth.
