IRVING, Texas - Conference USA selected SMU's senior Janielle Dodds as this week's C-USA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Dodds led the Mustangs to a 3-0 record and an SMU Hoops for the Cure tournament title. Over the three games, she accounted for 23.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and shot 65 percent from the floor (24-of-37) and 83 percent (20-of-24) from the free throw line.

Dodds led SMU to a win over metroplex rival TCU, 66-61, Tuesday followed by a pair of victories in the SMU Hoops for the Cure Tournament, including a 68-56 win over Big 12 foe Kansas in the championship game.
For the week, the preseason All-C-USA pick averaged 23.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and shot 65 percent from the floor (24-of-37) and 83 percent (20-of-24) from the free throw line, as well as sinking a pair of 3-pointers.
The win over the Horned Frogs marked first victory for SMU in the last six tries. The Mustangs rallied from a second-half deficit as large as 11 points on Dodds' 20 point and eight rebound performance. She also shot .500 from the field (5-of-10) and went .769 from the foul line (10-of-13) in just 24 minutes of play.
Against Kansas, Dodds recorded her first double-double of the season with 29 points, one shy of tying her career-high, and 11 rebounds. It also marked the third-straight 20-point performance in as many games.
With 99 points scored this season, Dodds moves up to No. 4 on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,466 career points. She needs 14 points to move into the No. 3 slot.
Dodds currently leads the league with 19.8 PPG and ranks seventh in rebounding, averaging 8.2 per game. This is Dodds first player of the week honor this season and second of her career. SMU is 4-1 on the young season.
