Of course he did-- he just had trouble with getting HS FB players excited about SMU.

Not at first. He did well the first couple of classes until the losses mounted and the honeymoon ended.

kinda hard to do that when you just invite them to your camp and talk to them if they show up. if they don't attend, they don't deserve to be a part of the mustangs!

Agreed that we hire the best coach available as long as his past doesn't affect what he does here. But surely you're not suggesting that we eliminate a coach simply because he's a good guy? That we go out of our way to hire a scumbag because scumbags win more than good guys?

I think you know better than that, and exactly what I am saying. But if there is a scumbag available who has paid his debt for being a scumbag and who is a more likely winner as a coach than the Mother Theresa's we've been looking at, you bet your @ss I'd rather have the scumbag.

I just read Gangi's post on the other site. I can see what set you off.

Why do you think I started this thread? Have I ever started such a thread before? No. Why do you think Ted Gangi started a nearly identical thread at Mustangmaniacs at the same time?

The answer: Reliable rumors.

I think Chan may/will be a disaster.

Just got back from the BB game, Poines played good, showed a little of what's in store for us.

Blog, I'm not sure what your saying, but my source was not Mustang Maniacs. I'm also not saying he is our new coach, simply offered job. I acutually agree with you. Very boring hire. My first reaction was you must be F_____ing joking.

I will say this a very reliable source that I keep hoping is wrong. The source has ties to an NFL network of coaches and is completly outside of SMU. Let's hope he is wrong I think we can do much better.

I guess we can rehash this if you want. He went to 6 straight bowl games at a school that was clearly second fiddle in his state. He was 7-1 in the ACC last year for crying out loud. I'd be shocked if he was willing to come here.

He is not coming back to Dallas. We won't be that lucky to get Chan. He will land one of the other open positions. Probably Duke. They have a nuecleus of offensive talent that Chan can groom into something pretty good.

Your right you are full of BS. I have never posted anything false or misleading on the board, do the research. This info was passed to me and I passed it to you. There are several poeple on this board who no me, unlike you and they no I wouldn't post something if I didnt' believe the source. Take the info or leave it.
By the way I fired two Houston alums in the past 2 years, I have high school grads who worked circles around them. And you can take that to the bank Coog!!

Gailey b l o w s . In the immortal words of Jerry, "hey, hey, stop this crap."

Gailey took super bowl talent and got blown out by the f'ing Cardinals in the first round. Next year he went 8-8. This hire would lack "wow" anywhere, but especially in Dallas of all places. Gailey is NOT coming here.
I sure this is a prank & there's nothing to this - hopefully.
Not a prank, it's real. Talks are ongoing. I'm not saying that he'll be the coach, just that they are talking.
