This is concerning. This shows what a struggle it is to secure a quality coach because of the history of SMU Football and the current state of our program.
I don't know about you guys, but I am becoming increasingly worried about the quality of coach we hire. This hire is the most important hire, in my opinion, since the death penalty. This is the absolute last chance for this ship to be turned in the right direction.
As a player, you always look at the schedule to find that game that is a secured win. Unfortunately, we are that team that other looks at. I am tired of that .
Orsini, we need to hear something soon or your the amount of doubt about the history of this program will continue to exponentially grow!
Is this a serious post? I hope I'm not "taking the bait" by thinking that it is. "...I am worried" "...absolute last chance..." "...I am tired".... "...we need..." I hope this is a joke. If not, you are [deleted] we todd did. Get a grip, man.

Wait a minute. In the players meeting my source said that Orsini said the new coach would be named to the team before the Christmas break begins. He said the media may leak it sooner but he will try to tell the players before it leaks. Finals end on Dec 8th I believe. Did anyone else catch that from the meeting?

With all the prime, big $ job openings happening this season, and given our situation, does Orsini have any other choice but to just wait in line? Not saying he doesn't already "have his man," or saying that's what he's having to do. But it wouldn't surprise me if he was just having to wait to see who falls through the cracks.
That is my true belief knuckle, but I also want to believe he has his man and had him when he was hired. I just hope his guy does not back out for a better (?) job with all these coaching vacancies. Some of you actually believe Orsini did not think there would be vacancies across the nation. I hope to God he is not the stupid. What is the average number of D1 jobs per year. Like 6?

just throwing out possibilities here...there's a possibility that Ty Willingham is Orsini's guy and has been all along. Washington lost their 6th game (assuring they would not have a winning season in the 3rd year of their rebuilding project) the same weekend Bennett lost # 7 and was terminated. Willingham knows at that point the odds are good he'll be asked to leave at season's end (talk is that will happen if they lose to Hawaii). Didn't Orsini work with Ty at ND? Suppose Orsini realizes that Ty has worked at both Stanford and ND and appreciates the politics of the athletics vs academics that he will deal with at SMU? Suppose the "delayed" announcement is so Ty can negotiate a "severance" package with UW?
I throw this out because my theory is that Orsini recognizes SMU can't compete in the arms race of college football...and that he had his list of guys who were most likely to fall from grace this year. Take the severance and come join CUSA where careers are reborn.
Of course, Fran must be on that list, too. It's just that Willingham is still coaching this weekend

Berge,
This is a message board of opinion. It is my opinion that "I am worried", I do believe this is "the last chance", "I am tired" because I work too much, "We need" to win games, and I am sitting my [deleted] on the sofa right now.
Rather than get a grip, I will continue to express my opinion.
