so if the reason he has been successful is that he stores kids at a prep school, how come other head coaches at Navy have not had his success?

I know this about Paul Johnson, In 1999 he meet one Jim Tressell on the football field for the d1-aa championship and lead Ga.Southern to a 59-24 win. I watched that game and PJ outcoached Jim Tressell like no other coach i've seen. I think you put Paul Johnson's offense in at SMU with Justin Willis and the runningbacks you guys have it would be a huge success.

Navy Defensive Statistics
39.5 Points Per Game
6.3 yards Per Play
458 Yards per Game
And consider this is with a running offense that keeps the clock moving w/o incompletions. Given up almost 60 to a Division 1AA team-gave up 62 to NTSU. YIPEE!!!!!!!!!

before this year they've played pretty good defense at Navy, You guys have to remember he only bought back 1 starter from last seasons unit.

He's my favorite coach in the entire search. Guy is a winner and his offense is basically unstoppable. He's not just a run guy
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones

his offensive scoring and "tricks" remind me of playing the late 80's editions of Tecmo Bowl.

The irony of this hire, if it happens?
Remember Phil Bennett's first game at SMU, when the infamous "fireworks malfunction" occurred, followed by a 38-7 loss to then worst-team-in-the-nation Navy?
The opposing coach for the Midshipmen, on his way to a 2-10 campaign, was PAUL JOHNSON.
