1. Unproven recruiter (sorry, but it’s a fact that Navy recruiting is a much different situation from SMU on this point)
2. Not a WOW hire – You walk in a party and tell people SMU just hired Paul Johnson and the response you get is “Whoâ€

SMU is in no danger of being confused with a BCS member.

You sound awfully knowledgable for somebody who a week ago was asking us who Todd Dodge is.

All you have to say is, "He's the guy at Navy who beat Notre Dame."
People who know college football know Paul Johnson. I don't care whether people at a Park Cities cocktail party recognize his name.

So I completly understand the concern around recruiting. However, Navy is not the only place this guy has coached. Winners find a way to win and that is all that this guy has ever done. If he picks the right staff, this guy could be a great hire.

Ok you so I say "He's the guy from Navy who Beat Notre Dame" - And their response:
Oh, Roger Staubach is coaching?
Very Nice

Yup.... it's happened to me before, so I edited a post to read "martini" instead.

David, you know I'm right. In fact, I have a feeling I have a lot more supporters out their on this point but they're understandably demoralized from Orsini's failures thus far to land a coach. Be honest to yourselves, Johnson is the ulitmate "Cop Out" hire if there ever was one.
