Is Todd Dodge the idiot and [deleted]...and i thought SMU was the toughest job in CFB?

Paul Johnson is one of the best coaches in America no matter what offense he runs. He would succeed here. We would be lucky to have a qualty coach like Coach Johnson here.

SMU is reported to be paying $1.5 million a year for Johnson, which almost triples the highest amount SMU has ever paid a head coach.

OMG, OMG, please let us land Johnson. This literally would blow the Doh hire away. Make it happen Orsini. Best candidate by far.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

If the 1.5 million is accurate, that's pretty good compared to Joe Paterno who makes approximately $500k (Penn States sells out for every game).

Seems like an outrageous salary for a service academy coach.

I'm probably wrong, but did I hear correctly that Art Briles will be getting 1.8 at Baylor...previously a C-USA coach?

The State schools have limited contracts that are highly supplemented by the boster organizations, much in a manner that we are doing right now. I would imagine that Joe P's take home is more than $500,000/year.

Can PJ succeed here? Once again he took nothing, came here and beat the crap out of SMU in his first game in division 1. I'll take my chances on him.

Sounds like Johnson is a great football guy but he certainly isn't a "wow" hire. We'll see if he can recruit. I'll certainly give him a chance.

I guess he did a decent job of recruiting at Georgia Southern. The guy went 62-10.

He will do just fine with recruiting, contrary to stallion's wishes.

I am surprised that Johnson has become our leading candidate. Navy alumni are not going to let him go without a fight $$$.
