This is from the Five with Phil at Mustangmaniacs.com:
5. You were on the staff at TCU when the team went 1-10. Do see any similarities this season with that team that has blossomed into a Top 25 program?
Yes. But the fact of the matter is this: We had three recruiting classes here that aren't showing. It's going to take us some time. I've had one full recruiting class. It's going to take us some time to fill these holes.
Am I reading this right? Is he basically saying that none of Cavan's recruits are "showing", i.e. worth a damn?
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I don't know anything about what Bennett thinks or believes about Caven's recruits. I can only speck for my opinion. Judging from the pathetic secondary play, inconsistent O-line play, pitiful punting and placekicking, inept QB play and brick hands midget like receivers that Caven didn't do a great job recruiting.

My only thought is that this is a Grade A softball question and Bennett gives an unexpected answer that speaks of anything but optimism.

It means that when his best option is to start unexperienced true freshmen, instead of 3 or 4 year players--those 3 or 4 year players must be pretty bad.

Not only were the older 3 classes lightly regarded, there are not many of them. That is not to say that some are good and some, like Adami, are playing much better than their recruiting status (though due to his smaller size for the position injuries are more likely and have occurred,) but we are really thin in those classes. And he is right about needed better recruits and we are getting them but it will take time.
Having said that, I think the wheels came off worse that he expected this season so one must reflect about the reasons.
Go Ponies!! Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad

Thought it was interesting that Baylor's coach, according to an article in this morning's DMN, is pretty much discusted with his seniors and is going to start playing a lot of his younger players for the rest of the season. Sounds very similar...
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

i think coach was speaking in broad terms. surely he doesn't think players like Adami, etc., "aren't showing" - but I think it's safe to say there isn't as much production across the board as we'd like. There are some players in each class - I don't think he's denying that - but not enough. He also understands how inexact recruiting can be, and knows that some classes will be a little thin, and he'll hit the motherload in other classes.
Stay the course and press on, Coach!

I read that quote from the Bayor coach! Those on here that thought Bennett's speech was harsh should read that blistering reproach to his team!
Long live Inez Perez!

Since we post evrything that we hear Bennett say, I heard him on the radio last week praising some of the seniors like KK and Bischoff who have shown incredible leadership to the younger players and how they give it all every day.
Also, to say that some haven't shown up, can be taken literally. Shanderrick can't play anymore. Luker is rocking it out. And so on.
