Bump. Interesting what was said then and what is being said now -- should Johnson become the coach.

BTW, Bergermeister, it sounds like you've changed your tune since your Dave Smith comment.

Darth doesn't care if SMU runs the single wing, the wing T, the wishbone, the straight T, the spread, the run & shoot, or the poop & scoop.....

In the words of Al Davis...

JUST WIN BABY!

Darth, I agree. All this guy does is win!! You Naysayers should read what everyone else outside ponyland is saying. Basically it would send a shockwave through the football world if Johnson comes to SMU. Now why would they say that?

Okay, he leads Navy to 5 bowl games.....

..... PB leads SMU to losing records in 5 of 6 years.....

And there are those on this board who don't want him for what reason?

It's called commitment to success. Navy was committed to winning. Rice was committed to something other than winning.

I never said it would not work here, but you are looking at a 3-5 year time frame to get it done with the nuecleus of players we have. If you are willing to wait that long, fine. By that time we will be DII. We need to get out of CUSA and winning the next two seasons may help us to do that. I have said we need to build a program, but doing so may crush us as a football progam. Our BB team cannot hold the torch. We have the football players to put us back on the map with the right coach.
