HEY NEW COACHES...Reported from the San Antonio Express News Wednesday Nov.28, 2007,, Former University of Texas recruit, San Antonio Clark standout RB Jerrell Wilkerson, who is the city's all time rushing leader (7,249 yards), high school TD's (110), and (47)TD's his senior year says he is interested in playing football again. Wilkerson left Texas after his true freshman year in 2005 for personal reasons. He tried out today at San Antonio's Division 2 UIW. Wilkerson says he wants to " know what my true opportunities are "....Former Rivals 3 Star recruit in 2004-05, 5.7 personal rating. We need to consider this guy

Can Orsini offer him with the waiver he got from the NCAA?
"It'd be nice to see Jesse Henderson break one here."
His waiver expired 11/10/2007. It actually was just so he could contact and discuss the hiring situation with the current committments as fas as I can tell.
I was interested in Wilkerson when he left the UT program. Most UT fans were really disappointed when left. Think he had some family issues to deal with. Cross him off your list if SMU gets Paul Johnson. Has SOME interest in SMU during the initial recruiting process.
During the current recruiting process? Or he did when he came out of high school? HOORAY, BEER!
I'm unconvinced about Johnson as well, but you need to prove up what you say here. I call b.s. on this particular comment. You are past the buoys again. "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
Players want to go where they are THE integral part of the Offense. You are way past the buoys if you don't know this. There are not enough carries availiable to any one back to keep top recruits happy in the veer bone.
No kidding? Gee, I thought they wanted to sit around on the bench and look at the drill team's [deleted]. ![]() Yeah, I realize this. If you know for certain that is/was his motivation, then I apologize for pushing back. But I don't think you know for a fact that was the case. I am not making a general statement here...I just think your disdain for this whole Johnson thing is jading you toward stating an assumption about this kid in particular. I can think of plenty of reasons he wouldn't come to SMU; I don't need Johnson as a reason. We can assume a lot of things. "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." And how often do we get top recruits that you/we want.......not very often. PJ does more with less at navy. He may not be a sexy media hire, but he seems to always win. Whats the worst that can happen, we go 1-11? 1997: 10-3 1998: 14-1 1999: 13-2 2000: 13-2 2001: 12-2 2002: 2-10 (first year at navy, and half of his victories were against SMU) 2003: 8-5 2004: 10-2 2005: 8-4 2006: 9-4 2007: 7-4 (with one game left to play)

I mean most good teams that run a one back set are constantly rotating their backs to try and keep them fresh. Fact is, they all want more carries these days.
So are you saying he probably won't transfer to USC? GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!
