Way to twist the facts to make it work for you...[/quote]
oh good, Givens is trapped. i feel so much better now. And Dez was 'able to use" was a provocative statement. Meaning he wanted out and he had a way out. Dez knew the educational offering when he came to SMU. He left for basketball reasons, dont kid yourself.

Doesn't the FACT that he has run a passing/veer offense in the past possibly mean the just maybe he might do it again in the future. No one on this board even knows for sure who we are getting as a coach, but everyone seems to know the offense that Johnson will run exclusively. And to top it off he is going to run that offense just so he can run off any player we have now and keep any potential recruit from ever wanting to come to SMU. Now that sounds just like something a 10 win a year coach would do.
And, you lawyers, if you ever plea bargin for a lesser sentence for a guilty client, be sure and get the same sentence for an innocent one because you want to be able to always do whatever was successful for you. Never adapt, never adjust, never change and never win. We are SMU.

Synthetically football players are being paid to play by means of free education, so if they want to transfer to valadosta st., and never have any connections or opportunities after college...then let them go... Johnson will win games at SMU, he has won everywhere else. That is fact.
Exactly, let them transfer. They can play for a winner, play in bowls, be successful, or whine about a few less touches per game. Systems beat individuals.

Like I said. No one has transferred. Of course they have a wait and see attitude and they love SMU. THAT'S WHY THEY COMMITTED. I know some of you feel that if PJ comes it will guarentee SMU will win, us against the world and all that. Dismiss anyone who has dreams and hopes they may further their football career and its my or the highway. But, if he comes, and wins, you cannot deny, he will need as many talented players as he can get. Yes. he did more with less at NAVY. THIS IS NOT NAVY.

Talked to JWill today and everthing is going well. He met with Orsinis assistant and discussed the need for players to continue to go to class, stay out of trouble and be patient. Nobody is going anywhere. Most of the players we have, JWill included, are glad to be at SMU. The only players that might consider transferring are the ones that did not play here, wow. If it is PJ, we will adapt. And who said PJ will not bring in an assistant to run a different style of offense? PJ will be the HC not the OC. We have he money to hire assistants.

I cannot think of many players on the current roster who can "further their football career" whether they stay or go. Not a who's who of future NFLers on the Hilltop these days....

You are correct, we play a far worse schedule, and may have more talent.

Don't panic! These kids' futures got a lot brighter the day Bennett got fired. Good guy, not a good head coach.

Didn't McCown and Sanders transfer because they didn't think the offensive system they were playing in utilized their skills and in short wanted to play in a Spread Offense?

Bhayne01 wrote:If you don't even consider that the SMU players are considering other options at this point in their college careers, with nothing else to do but go to class, that is BS! Stallion, the points made on this post are dead on. If PJ is the man, and he does not consider the personel on this team and the option is his offense of choice, it will be totally OFFENSIVE! I know for a fact that some players are concerned. Doesn't mean they will transfer, not yet. But why wouldn't they be concerned? It is college and they are being fed only the crap that we and others at the university are feeding them. The question is, will Orsini permit PJ to run the option just to get him signed. I pray that Steve Orsini, the boss, he looks at the players and the potential and tells him, we are not Navy. We are not going to lose our scholarship athletes for a "system" that does not fit here.
The only concern the players have is what adjustments they will have to make when a new coach comes in. There are always changes to be made, thank God. Some players quit when Vic came in and changed the [deleted] that was going on in the weightroom. We were 1-11 and we have sucked for years. Someone needs to shake this mess up. Orsini and whoever he hires want to win as bad as most of the players. They will do the right thing for SMU football.

No one has run to the panic room. And your "babies" strapped it up for each on of those 1-11 games and never quit. A change is what they hope for from 1-11 and they want to be a part of something special at SMU. So let's be gracious to the men that put on the uniform. It's not about the paychek for them.
