Who is going to get their attention?

Turner Gill- Yes
Bowden- Yes
Barnett- Yes
Nutt- who have
Dennis Green- yes

O'Leary- maybe
Mason- maybe but probably not
Neuhiesel?- maybe

PJ- ? I don't think so.

Time to keep some of the top talent @ home & this hire should & must do that.
Also, time to hire 3 to 4 of the top coaches in the DISD & surrounding area.
Let's make up for lost time NOW !

Coaches have nothing to do with it. Get these kids on campus and tell them they will play here and get the best education in the nation.

huh? just tell em about the eduaction. thats easy.

yea, but can you get them on campus?

Since when did all of you concede to my argument that Bamba Fall ,while a nice prospect we should sign, was really a long term project? I thought Jimmy Tubbs signed the AirCraft carrier Blue Chip Super Star according to most on this board. Guess now that he only gets 3 shots off aganst Division NAIA competition we've got revisionts history. Please note Istill think he was a Project andI'm still right.

Do you people understand that a STAFF recruits and not just the head coach? The most important relationship a high school player has is with his future position coach. Saying that a head coach cannot recruit is an inaccurate statement. A STAFF recruits, not just the head coach.

Absolutely. That's why you have seen alot of discussion regarding coaching staffs in the last couple of hrs.

However, the HC has to be able to close the deal regarding the big time recruits.

You are correct about having a good recruiting staff.

Who's got the most pull in the DISD re: head coaches?
Who the President of the Texas High School coaches?
Top coach in West Texas, East Texas, HISD, FWISD and so on.
Who's the top HS coach in Oklahoma.
Who the top coach in JC. in Texas
What's Charlie Waters doing?
I read about a recent former Cowboy receiver coaching in the private school ranks, interview him.

Let me know when you want to take me on in hoops recruiting, it won't be pretty. You've lost your mind on the potential Johnson hiring, as well. I don't care if he's your preference or not, but he's profile, and a guy much of the nation reveres for what he's actually accomplished on the field, in a difficult place to draw talent & win. You don't have to get behind the guy, but you wreak of wanting him to fail b/c your own arrogance can't handle being wrong. You are a weak little man.

I happen to agree w/some of what you say about the current model, so I'm not just a hater but you've reached cartoon character status w/you stance on Johnson.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

we need to have about 2 bowl seasons before we can sign "big time" recruits. The public interest in recruiting and star rankings is so out of hand. It's like people want a name coach who can get us 4 and 5 star recruits and top 30 recuiting classes and then we will start winning. That model works for school like USC and Flordia, but you need to look at a school like Kansas as a more appropriate model. Their success has been at identifing talent. Most of their star players were not widely recruited, but players that had potiental that they staff developed into their system. Now with success, they are going after higher ranked recruits.

I mean mangino was NEVER considered a good recruiter. He is a gruff, mean, 300lb SOB but he has a great staff and can coach.

There is no reason with this school & in this conference they can't turn it around in one year. Its there for the taking.
