I've heard the deal with Johnson has been finalized
Take this for whatever it's worth.
Johnson and SMU have agred on a deal and it will be announced next week due to the Army Navy game. This was Turner's choice, not Orsini's, but he's agreed to it. I've heard this from a former college coach who has some ties up North.
Soooooooo, I guess it's go Navy.

The coach? Or the timing of the announcement?

The "Orsini is all powerful and all knowing and would bring in Les Miles if it weren't for Turner" stuff on this board just has to stop. There is nothing to it.
There is nothing to the "Orsini had Butch Davis locked up but Turner wouldn't let Orsini pull the trigger" rumor. All you need to do is look at a calendar to know that isn't true. At the time Butch Davis was announced as HC at UNC, SMU had just lost to Houston; it had two games left and could have finished 7-5, 6-6 or 5-7. And most people I was talking to after the Houston game were leaning towards 5-7, which would have certainly meant Bennett's ouster. If Davis was "locked up," Davis would not have taken the UNC job.
If Turner was running this, there would be a lot more information flowing than there is. This is how Orsini does it.
This is Orsini's hire. This is what he was hired for; no booster was going to support Copeland hiring another football coach. Orsini gets the credit if it works; orsini gets the blame if it bombs.[/b]

I told you to searc Orsinis background and you would find the coach. He has not made any outstanding hires at the Universities he has been at. He has made the best hire. There is a difference. We are SMU, be proud if PJ takes the job.
i think i finally understand where youre coming from now...
im not disappointed with this hire but if its really "turners guy" then i think Orsini needs to have his balls cut off on the 50 yard line at ford infront of a sell out crowd during halftime of PJs first game

Turner is dogshit when it comes to athletics. Stop posting his name on this board. He is an educator that has screwec up every athletic program he has touched. Leave him out of it.

Turner is not an athlete or a coach or an athletic administrator. Where's his athletic ineptitude - on his morning jog?StallionsModelT wrote:While you can't deny Turner's ineptitude in athletics, you can't deny his remarkable fundraising abilities. The guy has brought some serious cash/facilities/upgrades to this university.
