Why not spend some of that $10M and just pay some HS players to fill the stands and make it look good. Or is that an NCAA violation? Technically, they would be working for us, and I don't know that being forced to sit through some of our games isn't worth $100-500 per.
I HATE the University of Texas!

C'mon, some of us are trying to be serious. But good idea!

Perception is reality. If people start seeing larger crowds then I think that generates interest, excitement, curiosity, etc. Why not throw a few bucks out for "filler fans"?
Alternatively, if we can't get more fans we can order all of the ones that do attend to sit together between the 30 yard lines and restrict the camera angles to the 30s as well so it looks packed.

I will venture a guess that the players could care less what anyone paid to get in...or whether they even paid to get in. This team would appreciate playing in front of 25-30,000 fans every game and it would probably do wonders for their energy and enthusiasm. And I doubt it would hurt SMU's recruiting.
Keep pouring freebies into the community...church youth groups, pee wee football, scouts, etc...all these approaches have at least had some limited success in the past.
With the start of a "new era", why not appeal to area alumni with special deals? Maybe bring back some long lost fans?
Where is Russ Potts when we need him???

Damn, just shut up and give away free tickets along with a free food package. Pizza, popcorn or peanuts, and drink. Serve food an they will come.
anything else you would like given to you?
Wins fix this. it's that simple. win and people will come. don't need to give concessions to a bunch of freeloaders just to put fans of free pizza in the seats. And for your information, the concessions are independently run. they lease space from the stadium, so explain why THEY would give food to you.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

I guess the reported robberies at the game stayed the same?

Beanman wrote:Just a crazy idea. Since 2/3s of our stands are empty and our oponents fans outnumbr ours, why not try something new for a couple of years. Give any high school student an end zone ticket for $5. Allow his folks to have the same deal if with a kid. It just might:
1. Fill some seats. 2. Develop some interest in SMU. 3. Attract some future players.
All we need to do then is win.
Better idea is a "wet" tee shirt contest. If you get the girls to the game, the boys will follow!
