Was told today (by mustang1991 - got to give credit where credit is due) that because Service Academy employees are considered government employees .... Johnson is the highest-paid government employee in the country. Interesting.
True, except that the government isnt paying his salary. My understanding is that most of it is coming out of a fund raised by Navy alums.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

Well he is good at changing posts, quoting out of context, and putting words in other post-ers mouths...all to support his view and make himself feel better. Can't deny that..

That's Mustang91 ponypride
Xtc is right most if not all is given through alums. Technically still gets check from US Gov.

What I told Pony Pride was about US Gov employees. Not state employees like Mack Brown for example, who I guess could be considered a state employee. It doesn't really matter just stupid trivia.

Stallion wrote:No they are not. Paul Johnson did not leave preparations for Army/Navy to go sign Contracts to go somewhere else. The Navy AD has reported to day that SMU has not requested permission to talk to Johnson a requirement under NCAA rules. Just sit back and tell me that makes sense. He's waiting for the post-game bidding war.
Stallion, you seem to not know a lot about what goes on the day before a game. Preperations are done and over, if your still having preperations the day before a game, as you say, than your in deep trouble on game day. Just to walk you through a typical Friday. When traveling Like Navy this week, leave for the airport at 7:00 AM or by bus. Drive directly to stadium for easy 1 hour walk through in shorts. Drive to hotel have lunch, a few meetings with positions coaches and offense and defense and special teams. Also we used to have a church service for those who wanted. But basically a very easy day. Late afternoon team dinner and usually a team movie before early lights out. I can assure you this is the only day a coach would have time to even meet to talk a job.
I was told by a search committee member that when this thing would go down if we were going after a sitting coach, the search committe would probably fly late afternoon on a Friday meet in secret a hotel airport for discusions and possible negotations. All done in secret to protect a sitting coach. It's called deniability when it's done this way. He said and I quote "we would do it like this because this is the only time a coach would have time to meet and meet in secret." I'm not saying this happend today because I have not talked to this person and have no way of finding out. Things are very tight lipped right now. But given all the smoke the last day or so maybe there's some fire. Who knows at this point I guess we'll find out next week. Oh also, my source has said all along it would not happen until the first part of December.
By the way I know my spelling sucks but it's 1AM.

Stallion wrote:OK think about this-how much negative publicity would SMU and Johnson receive by signing a Contract the day before the Army/Navy Game in a TIME OF WAR. Stallion, don't waste your time explaining things to these idiots. We do not have a coach as of yet. We have several prospects with no front runner. We all know, but do not want to admit, we will get what is left over from the other vacancies. Hopefully it will be the best of the rest. All the hype is just an Orsini ploy, but nobody is buying it. I still believe Coach K will be pulled from UL. He will not make it through the next couple of weeks. His family is being threatened and he just ruined the heisman hopes of the best QB in college football.

I have also heard the Friday scenario since day 1 of the search. I also don't think the Navy AD is going to hold a press conference the moment we ask to talk to him. Anyone bothered to check to see where the Sewell jet has been lately. Get me a tail number on it and we can confirm if it has been to Maryland recently. With all the info starting to build up it looks like a Monday press conference is on the way.

Of course they will not hold a press conference on Monday, because Paul Johnson will not be announced as the head coach of SMU!!! He is not coming!!

I don't mean it personally! Don't be so sensitive. I know you are not an idiot.
