Just returned from HP v South Oak Cliff Playoff Game

Postby MrMustang1965 » Sat Dec 01, 2007 1:30 am

Once again, the Highland Park 'machine' dominates its opponent (this time South Oak Cliff of Dallas) although there were glimpses into the cracks in the Scots' system tonight. The Golden Bears kept the Scots out of the endzone the entire second half until the final two minutes of the game.

Final score: HP 36, SOC 13.

I will most likely not attend any more HP games either at Highlander Stadium or anywhere else...I've never stood up and down so many times to let people out of my row to either, 1) go check on their child in another section, 2) go buy nachos, 3) go to the restroom, 4) go say 'hello' to another Bubble resident in another section, 5) go take a picture of their child down on the sideline or 6) to leave in the 3rd quarter because 'the Scots have this game won!' These were just parents & kids coming down our row...the 'traffic' on the aisle was even worse! It was like being on Central Expressway during rush hour...people (mostly kids) running up and down the aisle at breakneck speed...no wonder HP has such a 'machine' in place...it's because the kids get all their athleticism running the bleachers during games!...and it's amazing anyone even knew there was a football game taking place down on the field!

That is a shame just go to the game and tailgate with Big Rick Fairchild and you wont want to miss a game again. His cooking skillz will blow your mind. You should hire him for tailgate at SMU. People will follow Big Rick wherever he starts a fire....

Wow, HP beat SOC in football. Beat then in BB and then you have a post.

Sit in the middle of the row and you will not have to get up and down for anyone.

He knows what side is HP's because he went to Highland Park as a student, and is a season ticket holder.

If this is some attempt at a comment about the ethnicity of the fans of either school, it is totally uncalled for.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Dutch & LHP: Yes, I am an HP alum. However, the atmosphere in 'the bubble' is not like what it was when I went there almost 35 years ago. I choose to not live in 'the bubble'.

And I am not a season ticket holder, either. This is only the 2nd HP game I have attended this year. The other was Richardson Pearce Mustangs v HP.

And I knew which side was HP's last night because the ticket seller told me that that the Scots were the 'visiting team' and that we needed to enter the game thru either gate 2, 3 or 4 at Texas Stadium.

To give you an example of some of the pea-brains that live in 'the bubble'...a man sitting behind us with his wife said "SOC sure doesn't have a very big band, do they?" Her response was "Well...you know, black people don't really like to play musical instruments."

Not surprising. I remember watching some of the Hillcrest-HP games back in the early 90s where they would say crap like that. Of course, instead of "black people" they would use a much more colorful metaphor.

The SOC side will probably have more blacks. The HP side will proably have more whites....just a guess though. BTW: adults who attend high school football games that do not have a child, relative, or friend's child playing are losers. Adults who post about their experience at a high school game on a ponyfans web site are bigger losers.

Why?

please feed me some well thought out and generalized stereotype about an entire community based on the actions of a few.
