Sherrington is a complete idiot and one of the worst columnists I've ever seen (read?). He's the same guy who called the Miami Heat an "inferior opponent" in the 2006 NBA Finals...and we all know what happened there. He doesn't know [deleted] about sports - he just throws out inflammatory opinions to see what comes of it.

He hates SMU and takes every opportunity to get a shot in at us. Too bad the DMN couldn't buy his worthless [deleted] out like they did Blackistone and some of the other hacks over there.

Cowlinshaw isn't far behind, either.

Not arguing this point, but yeah, the Heat were a far inferior opponent. No one in their right mind thought they would win that series. Take out about 10 remarkably ridiculous phantom calls that no one will remember 5 years from now and they would have been swept. But that's all in the past now.

He is right on about the recruiting part. IF PJ comes here and runs his famous broken bone, we are doomed in respect to recruiting. This will set us back 10 years. I think Orsini knows this and will do the right thing.

what makes you so sure he's going to run the option here? did he run the option as the OC at Hawaii? No. did he run it at GaSo? No. The offense he fields is what he believes to be the best with the players he has. The talent at Navy is less than spectacular given their recruiting restrictions, so the option comes into play to capitalize on that.

What makes him a good coach is his ability to adapt.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

"Check out the BCS standings:
Five of the top seven teams – Missouri, Georgia, Kansas,
Virginia Tech and LSU – are run by quarterbacks from Texas"

I thought we have run a pass based offense since 1989, with the exception of the Darrell Dickey years. 1997 was our only winning season, with Ramon leading an option/running attack offense.

Sherrington, not my favorite either, is exactly right on this.

Johnson would be a bad move. SMU is not Navy. The 'Bone is not the way to go.

We're aiming too low, folks.

Sherrington is a crappy columnist and more importantly, he is a graduate of Houston's Cougar High School of Storytellin'.

The point that nobody bothers to look at is the ability to run just about any offense if necessary for Johnson. He uses the offense that works best at Navy and that is the option. In Hawaii, when he was OC he ran a similar attack to Rossley at the time with a Run and Shoot approach that put up great passing numbers but also had a runner that managed to put up 1400+ yards as well. Go do some research and don't jump to conculsions. Here is a guy who wins games with smaller O-lineman than most high schools in the area so I am of the opinion that Johnson knows how to coach and win. Can't say that about PB.

Okay, adapt to what? We can't block, we can't tackle and we can't run the ball. And I said if PJ comes here and runs his famous broken bone.
