BCS Championship Game

Postby D1Football » Sun Dec 02, 2007 12:32 am

Who do you all think should be in the Championship game?
It will never happen, but I would LOVE to see USC v. LSU! That was the preseason #1 and #2.
I don't believe Ohio State will win whoever they play. But I know "technically", they belong in that game. It is going to be an interesting 24 hours on politicing, etc before the bowl announcements.
Want to hear your predictions and thoughts.

I would like to see LSU v. USC also. Should've been that in 2003.

But, based on reality, I think it will be OSU v. LSU.

the best argument for LSU is that nobody has beat them in regulation-in this year that's good enough for me. Plus some of these teams have lost to very average teams.

CLOSING ARGUMENTS:

10. HAWAII: as much as this would be the best choice to reward the ONLY undefeated team in the country, even though they didnt play anyone big.

OUTCOME: Already in BCS equation as an At-Large most likely head to the Sugar Bowl but the Fiesta is still a possibility, so they wont make it.

9. OKLAHOMA: Knocks off #1 team to win Conference Title, ranked 9th in the BCS and showed a huge claim at the title game by "manhandling" Daniels. Got screwed last year by Pac 10.

OUTCOME: With a very good quality win over a #1 team, its still not enough to jump from 9 to 2...at best they finish at #3 and play in the Fiesta Bowl.

8. USC: Always a strong team and contender for the past 5 years. Somewhat good win over UCLA. Pac 10 Champ Outright

OUTCOME: Enjoy another year in the Rose Bowl Due to a Loss to Stanford. If ranked anywhere above 8 they'd have a shot but not this year Pete.

7. LSU: SEC champ with only 2 loses coming by way of 3OT. Ranked #1 for more weeks than anyone this year.

OUTCOME: Early season win over VT helps their cause and even though GA is ranked ahead of them, they should still be able to jump the Bulldogs being that they were idle this week. Sugar Bowl already locked but they have a good chance of playing for a NC.

6. VA TECH: ACC Champ with only losses coming from top 5 teams.

OUTCOME: Early season loss to LSU wont help their case. Orange Bowl is where they are headed.

5. Kansas: Didnt win conference title. Had best record in school history. no wins over ranked teams. "cupcake" schedule, #1 surprise team all year. One of only 2 1 loss team in the nation.

OUTCOME: Sure they didnt win their conference title but did Nebraska win it in 2001? NO! If you look at past BCS history, KU is Locked in for the Title game. However this may not happen. Voters will most likely leave Mizzou head of KU. Might be one of the best teams not playing in any BCS games.

4. GEORGIA: Didnt win conference title or play in title game. Played probably the best ball towards the end of the season.

OUTCOME: BCS has a history of showing favoritism to teams that dont win or play in their conference title game. Ranked at 4 should mean they are easy locks for the title game but it may not happen. A BCS at-large lock even if they dont play for the NC. No telling where they end up but will be end up in Sugar if LSU is a no show

3. OSU: Late season loss to an unranked opponent did them in. Only 1 of two 1 loss teams. Big Ten Champs.

OUTCOME: A Lock for the Roses however ALWAYS had the best chance of sneaking in if top 2 were to lose. Tressel and his boys are packing their bags and getting ready to head to New Orleans for the BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. voters: "dont let us down AGAIN buckeyes!"

2. WVA: Big East Champs. 2 of the most dynamic players in the game. Always a strong team

OUTCOME: Stick a fork in em, their DONE! No way the voters think they're real with a loss at home on senior night to an unranked team. For the 2nd time in 3 years, the Sugar Bowl will be their destination with a possible rematch of UGA vs. WVA from the 2006 Sugar Bowl

1. MISSOURI: B12 North Champ, only 2 loses coming from same team. Quality wins over Illinois and KU.

OUTCOME: If History repeats itself, their in but with a loss like that AGAIN to OU, there done as well. Look for them to pick up an Atlarge BCS birth and head to the Rose or Orange

END RESULTS: There are many possible outcomes of how this could play out but no matter what happens, OHIO STATE IS IN THE TITLE GAME. Its all up to the voters on who they want. MONEY WILL COME INTO PLAY...SO LSU MAY NOT BE PLAYING FOR A NATIONAL TITLE BEING THAT THEY ARE SO CLOSE TO NEW ORLEANS.

Most Likely Bowl Projections:

ROSE: Hawaii vs. USC - Hawaii might finally get this match up after asking USC to play them this year

FIESTA: Arizona State vs. Oklahoma - Fiesta bowl officials are praying that LSU doesnt make the title game so they can get Georgia because ASU fans wont be feeling up hotels come January

SUGAR: West Virginia vs. Georgia - Rematch of 2006 Sugar Bowl

ORANGE: Missouri vs. Virginia Tech - Great O vs. Great D...Kansas fans are PISSED!

TITLE GAME: Ohio State vs. LSU - may the BCS/Playoff debate begin all over again
