Should the offense switch to the triple option??

Postby PonySnob » Sat Oct 25, 2003 2:18 pm

Given that SMU cannot have a successful passing attack, perhaps the offense should run something more like Rice.

Where would SMU get an offesnive coach who could teach the wishbone if they can't operate any mother offense?

You guys are on the right train of thought now. Lets look at it. Nebraska seems to be able to entertain there fans and they spread the ball around to all players ie. wide recievers and multiple RB's. The first thing you would have to do is
1. Get a QB That can run the option. Not just one but three. I am telling you that QB's would rather run the option because its fun.
2. Then Line up your RB's. They to would like the option because its provides more carries for them.
3. Recievers!, In the bone you can have as many as 4 in the game as long as they have good size and run as well as catch.
4. Get the defense fast and quick. most teams are running spread offenses with boring so called PRO-style QB's.Quick D's can shut these Offenses down with tight coverage and fast blitzes. I think we found that out I HOPE.
5. SMU has the players to run the Triple-option right now.
6. SMU has good players! Maybe they would preform better in a different style O.
7. I know the triple-option was discussed as part of the Offense during 2002 but was dropped for some reason.

Can you get out of your coaching contract (you did not say at which university you presently coach) to come implement the aforementioned plan? Let's go with it, Frances.

That could be done very quickly. But I am currently Busy with a 9-1 football team heading into the playoffs as the # 1 seed. Using the trilpe-option. ancient Egyptian football 101. This is a fun site. See Ya. :thumbupcool:

Let me guess, being that you're from Mesquite, your first choice for the Option QB would be no other than...Hodges? Just a wild guess here.

Almost an QB you have ever seen wants to throw the ball. There is a reason that NO One who is any good runs the bone anymore and that is just one of them. It ain't the offense. It ain't the defense. It's the execution. The coaches seem to have lost these guys for whatever reason and the heart is out of them. We have amde our bed with Bennentt. He is here for at least 2 more years. We are going to be better off if we support him than not. Induvidual Players and players parents should not be criticized on the forum. Our apologies to Joyous. Your son will go far in life and its to your credit. These guys need support now w0rse than ever.
