Are We Sure This "Johnson Talk" Isn't a Big Charade?Navy Fans,
As of 3:25 p.m. EST today (Sunday), no officials have contacted Navy for permission to speak with Coach Johnson. There is a 8:30 p.m. conference call planned tonight for the Poinsettia Bowl. I'm sure the question will come up and I will try to listen in on the call. If I am unable to get away from the home duties, I will be talking to Coach Johnson in the next few days as his schedule permits. As always if you have a question that you would like me to ask the Coach, send me an email at [email protected] and I'll do my best to get it in. Don't put the question here because then I can't take credit for it. I usually like to start my conversations with Coach off with an update on how many "Hand's Off Our Johnson" shirts we have sold. I can't believe that I have to tell him that there are still some remaining! Ok, I don't really
I was thinking of the leak to the papers on Thursday. Silence for 4 weeks and then suddenly the whole world thinks we're after Johnson. Only a couple reasons why a leak would come from a small department.
Could be to leverage a third party who is contemplating the job.
he wouldnt be interested in a pay raise?
Perhaps not. Would you be interested in a pay raise to move to Baghdad? ![]()
My Two Official Cents:
I never bought the Johnson thing; it may be true it just didn't feel right to met. A leak after four weeks? From a small office? That happens for a reason. Orsini probably wants someone still coaching at some ranks, who may be slow playing SMU or waiting it out. Leak about Johnson, and KABOOM, the whole world thinks he's ours for 36 hours. Get the other party to listen up.
Of course, deals are put together by the agent so neither party talk directly. Once everything is satisfactory and defined, you can begin direct conversation. When a CFO is recruited to another firm, he doesn't inform his current employer until all of the details are worked out.
Re: Are We Sure This "Johnson Talk" Isn't a Big Charade?Hey Stallion, do you know who is writing that? A Navy PR guy? A journalist? Hard to believe either would produce a t-shirt with an apostrohpe that doesn't belong there. Maybe that's why it's not selling? ![]() ![]() ![]() Plagiarize!
Let no one else's work evade your eyes. Remember why the good lord made your eyes. So don't shade your eyes, just Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! (Only be sure always to call it, please .... "research.")
I hope the Johnson stuff is true, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's false and they got the info from this board.
Turns out he won't be getting much of a pay raise here anyway. The dude is reportedly making 1.8 mil at Navy already For example, Navy coach Paul Johnson, who was a candidate this week to take over at North Carolina State before the school settled on Boston College coach Tom O’Brien, is reportedly close to getting a sizable raise that would bump his incentive-laden salary to nearly $1.8 million. http://www.neilcornrich.com/2006_12_01_archive.html They raised him to 1.8 mil last year. I'm sure they'll raise that to match our offer this year anyway. Plus, looks like his daughter (who appears old enough to have just started high school) wants to live someplace where it snows. [i]“I don’t think it was actually until he heard a few people tell him he couldn’t win at Navy that he changed his mind. That and the fact that Kaitlyn wanted to live someplace where it snowed,â€
