Orsini's surprise hire

Postby SMUfan4ever » Sun Dec 02, 2007 8:00 pm

I just got off the phone with a friend who is very big booster and highly influential in the Mustang Club. He tells me that the "surprise" new hire will be Jason Garrett. I told him no way. He told me he was dead serious.

You need to call him back and let him know he needs to donate more money.

and so the first thought in your head was to seek out a SMU athletics message board, join for the first time, and share this important news?
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Also, I heard from a source that Tony Romo still has a year of NCAA eligibility. Normally once you hire an agent you can't go back to college but there's this big loop hole thing.

WELCOME NEW QB ROMO!

Good thing PB is gone... he'd probably turn him into a TE.

Now that would be a "Wow" hire and allow Jason to stay in Dallas (not move his family) and make more money while he awaits Wade Phillips retirement. Possibly makes sense via Mob Boss Orsini's ties to the Dallas Cowboys, and Jerry Jones could prevent other NFL teams from hiring him before Wade Phillips retires and Jason takes over the Cowboys in about 3-4 years in the new stadium.

This makes no sense from Jerry's side. How could he prevent other NFL teams from going after him while at SMU? How would it be beneficial to Garrett running the SMU program full time instead of investing his time and development at the NFL level, and more importantly with the Cowboys?

I am not saying this is going to happen.
I didn't make the post claiming this is about to happen.
I doubt it will happen.....but

Does it make sense "from Jerry's side" for
Jason to get hired away by the NY Giants?

Presumably Jason would not go 12-0 at SMU next year.
So there would be little interest.

Plus Jerry would be letting SMU pay Jason 1.5 million
while he is waiting to take-over the Cowboys.

I think being a head coach would help Jason become a better coach.
If he wants to stay in Dallas.....
Keep his family in the same house, same schools
And take over the Cowboys when Wade Phillips retires
This may be a way to do it.

It may be far-fetched.....but this guy claims he is speaking
with a big time influential SMU booster that says this is going
to happen......all I am saying....is these are possibly some of
the reasons if it becomes a reality.
