in Bossier City. Interesting perspective...then again, didn't Tech lose at SHSU the other day? Anyway, for one of the worst teams in college bball the last couple of years, Centenary's coach looks like he's doing a pretty good job. I think Dement had applied for that job before he got UNCG again.

I will say the Centenary coach was working his a-ss off at Moody and his players were responding to him. He was kind of funny but pretty impressive. Bobby Knight teams have historically had alot of strange early season losses. Knight does not care about the preseason. He truly believes it is only time to break his team down and demand "his way" prior to conference play. I sure hope Doh is currently following that 'model'.

because the coach himself said this is going to take 5 or 6 years not one season....essentially our struggles will probably continue throughout conference play this year

Doesn't mean he isn't using OOC games to break down the team and see what combinations work and which ones don't. Really think that is what he is doing. Rhodes only played 1 minute in todays game. He has been getting double digit minutes the last few games. May have been hurt, don't really know, but I think D is using these games to get ready for conference play.

Where did he say it would take 5 or 6 seasons to turn it around?

Dement not only applied, I believe he was offered the job. Probably the better move for him to go to UNCG as Centenary may be the only school tougher to recruit to than SMU.

As we talk about coaches with track records and the football search, remember this...Dement had success winning championships and going to the Big Dance at both Cornell and UNCG. Didn't get er done at smu though.

But his commute to see his wife would have been much shorter.

as the only Centenary grad on Ponyfans Im pretty excited to see Centenary knock off TT, SMU and hang 110 on semiannual NCAA cinderella Northwestern State so far this year. Even if NSU's coach is a friend of mine.
But I'll reiterate the claim I made after the SMU game that there is absolutely no reason for SMU, or TTech, for that matter to lose to the 'Nary - preseason or not. Centenary is by far the smallest D-1 program in the country and their admissions standards are tough enough that makes recruiting D-1 athletes exceptionally difficult. BUt they made a good hire in selecting former Arkansas asst Rob Flaska as HC and he is finally starting to pay dividends.
Hopefully, coach Doh will have similar and quicker success.

Nice try but I too have a degree from Centenary. That makes two of us on Ponyfans.com. I witness Centenary play UALR and agree that TTU should not loss to them. They hustle and are well coached but don't have the talent level a Booby Knight should have.

Centenary's guards are pretty solid. Any team in any conference with good guard play will have a chance.
See St. Joes and George Mason

Small world. With 200 grads a year thats pretty slim chances. Evidently there was an off court incident between Bobby Knight and some Centenary court side rowdies during the game last night. Knight was being harassed and "got into it" with some fans harassing him about a hunting incident as he was walking off at halftime. He evidently wasn't feeling well so he just decided to take the rest of the night off. Go figure. I guess Centenary only beat Knight for a half.

Alright, it may be just me but I don't recall any Centenary fans being so 'ungentlemanly" as to ignite Knight's temper.
