Since the contract has a buyout provision (I assume), it is not tortious intereference with contract to discuss with a party to a contract the exercising of that party's rights under a contract.

The Annapolis paper thinks SMU will make a formal offer:

It appears Johnson will find out today what deals are on the table. The Capital has learned from multiple sources that Johnson will fly to Atlanta today to meet with Jack Reale, his agent.

Duke and SMU are believed set to make formal offers to Johnson. Numerous outlets reported yesterday that Nebraska will hire LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini.

Meanwhile, Randy Edsall (Connecticut), Skip Holtz (East Carolina), Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, Florida State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher and interim head coach Jon Tenuta have all been mentioned as Georgia Tech candidates.

PJ will be in Atlanta today? Let's see if SMU and Duke are in a bidding war, not good. Duke has BCS $$$$ to spend. On the other hand, Duke would be a tougher job than SMU to compete in football. SMU would be more of a lateral job move. Duke would be joining the big boys. Interesting dynamic. Orsini probably has a few aces in the hole if PJ heads to Durham.
