If SMU had a beach, palm trees, and pig roasts, we could possibly recruit with Jones as head coach.
Also, June has no texas ties, he is old, not very good looking and can only get rivals recruiting classes with only 8 3 stars. Plus his system won't allow us to get any lineman because they will be scared off because they won't get to showcase their run-blocking skills.
Just my opinion/fact.
You ever been to Lubbock?
Do you live in Texas? Nobody runs the ball in Texas more than 10-12 a game on the average. Texas schools put the ball in the air. At least the successful programs do.
Leach will be leaving TT one way or another. So no competing with him.

June Jones: "Orsini, I'm from Hawaii, were winning, I don't really have a desire to leave here and you're going to increase my income by how much? Over a Million a year, I will definitely find some time to fly in from Dallas to visit my friends in Hawaii during the off season."
Orsini: "Welcome to SMU, Coach Jones"
Well then, let's have that conversation with Steve Spurrier or Les Miles...

These guys are way over our heads. We would need more than 10mil to attract a name like Miles or Spurrier. They know the risk they would be taking. It would have to be enough for them to retire if they could not make it work.

Facetious or not. Don't you think the so called 10 mil is enough money to have somebody knocking on our door. I am being serious here people. We are in trouble. You can make jokes all you want about what you think I don't understand, but I was being serious about the fact that we could not raise enough money to attract a quality coach because there are too many [deleted] standing in the way of a coach doing his job. I have stated this before and I will state it again. Orsini did not know what he was getting himself into when he took this position. I would not be surprised if he is not floating his resume as he looks for a HC. The university is a nightmare for athletics. We don't have a coach! I would be surprised if we have a coach by Jan 1st 08.
Stop thinking you are funning me. If money is the issue like many of you have stated. We either have not raised 10 mil or coaches coach for more than just money?

I was being facetious. You really believe Miles and Spurrier are above this University? If you do, your alumni status or whatever needs revoked. This is the best University pound for pound in the nation. GET THE ADMIN AND SOME OUTSIDERS OUT OF THE WAY AND LET ORSINI TRY AN DO HIS JOB. GIVE ATHLETICS COMPLETE CONTROL TO RUN ATHLETICS.

EastStang, mind your business baby. People like you are a prime example of why this program has sucked for so many years. It is like a plague and you have the sickness. You would not know what it would take to have a winning season if we did hire Spurrier or Miles. You could find something wrong in that. It is all about you trying to showcase your so called knowledge about sports. Damn man, get some busines and leave the sports to those that actually play and coach the game. You were a PB jock rider. You also rode the jock of every coach we have ever gotten. Your groin area should be ruined by now the way you ride the fence. Make up your mind about what you want. A winning team or a winning message board?

Actually BD, 10MM doesn't get you what you need in this situation. A 5 year deal at 2MM per leaves you way short. Bennett's got to be paid out of that money and you are going to have to pay coordinators more and probably give them at least 2 year contracts so the kitty really needs to be 12MM+........But money won't be a problem...........

I keep hearing money is not the problem. Show me the money! There are several HC, along with the people they could bring in, who would be happy with a 10mil package at SMU. Your are talking about Highland Park, The Hilltop, parents feeding them every Wednesday. Virgins being offered up at will, ops, that one slipped. Why not attract the coaches mentioned on this board. They have the opportunity to make a mil and turn a program around.

I loved that quote from you. Have a nice day! At least you are reading some knowledge. Hey Kate. Put a story in the DMN about the support this program actually gets from its alums and so called supporters. You have enough info. Don't be scared. You are protected by the constitution.
