Coaching Conundrum? At least 117 possible candidates are behttp://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?SID=1144&CID=746771
Rivals.com posted their rankings of every major college football team in the nation. SMU finished 118th out of the 120 teams. Thank God for Florida International and Idaho (although I believe both may be underrated in the rankings). Regardless of what some would argue on this board, SMU’s head coaching position is not a premier job. The ability to get a “nameâ€
Wow...thanks Stallion/BigDaddy II. I was actually enjoying today on this board.
Thanks for sapping out all the fun and bringing us back to reality. Why don't you just go on over to the campus and kick Orsini, Turner, and (possibly) our new coach square in the crotch while you're at it?

well put, unfortunately.
you put some thought and research into this. ***praying for someone to coach us next year*** we should be happier than pigs in [deleted] to have someone like Barnett who beat Texas in the big 12 championship with far inferior players but nooooo, we wanna run the triple-veer option with PJ who may not even come here??? i am going to throw up.
Way to not acknowledge that Barnett also got beat 70-3 by Texas in 2005.
and to forget that he's widely known as the guy who didn't give a [deleted] when girls were getting raped. not that it was true but it's perceived...big baggage. personally i think he got a raw deal but that's the problem with Barnett!!!
Let's face it, we are running out of options. Either bring back Meyer, Collins or let me coach. Here are my qualifications:
1. 2004 and 2006 Nerdherd Fantasy League Runner-Up 2. All Time Leader Receiver for 4th grade flag football at Seven Holy Founders Catholic School (I was the go to receiver in a spread offense) 3. Led SMU Mustangs to a 7-5 record on EA College Football 2007 and a 9-4 record on EA College Football 2006 4. My Mustang Club Dues are paid through 2008 5. I have my own SMU hat and shirt 6. I will hire a special teams coach each week from PonyFans based on number of posts (Stallion...it will be great coaching along side of you) 7. I will spend time listening to fans on the BLVD up until the game starts 8. White Helmets...need I say more 9. I would invite every athlete ever paid by SMU back for homecoming...we should have a full stadium that game 10. No swinging gate

Pony94,
Can you tell us about your Family Thanksgiving football record? I am a little concerned you are overqualified. Can you out run the ball marker official? That old dude can move, but I am concerned that he might run you down when moving from one end of the field to the other after punts.
Re: Coaching Conundrum? At least 117 possible candidates ar
You are partially correct!!! I am a realist and an [deleted]. However, I am a dumb [deleted] for having season tickets for the last six years with expectations that it has to get better. What are we 12 and 24 over the last three years? I tried to forget the first three. Coaching is an issue. But do not kid yourself in believing that football intelligence and ability are not an issue. It is not an issue of a mental mistake, but the same mistakes series after series and game after game. Take a look at the kids we sign in 2008 and show me one that had legitimate option with a better school. We do not compete for top level recruits at this point. As to the Ivy League reference, I have read on this forum constantly about the high academic standards of SMU. I cannot disagree, it is one of the finest institutions in the nation. However, if an individual has the academic achievement for SMU and has the ability to play football the option for the Ivy League will be there. A kid would be a fool not to take that opportunity over SMU. We have to offer more i.e., a better program. Play calling is suspect, but Willis opts to take it upon himself on far too many plays. He has options. Unfortunately he tends to choose those that involve him being sacked rather than involving others. The issue is just as likely the ability of receivers to get open than that of a poor offensive line. How about running the ball to keep the defense honest. I want nothing but success for the program. I am a fan. However, it troubles me to see kids like Martin overshadowed by a selfish player and isolated from the game plan. Give me a young coach with some passion and the discipline to bench those who chose to improv rather than run the play called. Willis is talented but lacks discipline and will never find it with a coaching staff and fan basis that praises his approach. Yes, it is a ranking and after the BCS Championship Game we will still be 118. I want more! I want success! But ignoring the fact that 118 is the bottom of the barrel is delusional. Give me Major Applewhite!

You are just a Bennett Lover 2.0. Go away with your 'up and coming coordinator who really hasn't proved anything" BS. It's been done.
