Stallion, I know the history of this school. I just won't state how I know. I also know that post death penalty, you couldn't PAY a HS player to come here. We got some recruits, but not any that could have played for any other SWC school. We discovered some diamonds in the rough while they were playing, but not coming out of HS.

No, my memory is good. You have been happily married for eight years. Well, go to bed with your husband!

Oh BigDaddy your characterization is right on. I used to keep track of this-I believe we didn't outrecruit a single SWC school according to the "experts" for at least the first 5 years. Then the only school we could occassionally compete with was Rice. TCU has arguably outrecruited SMU 18 out of 19 years. You are Correct.

I assure you I'm not too old. Your post just seemed like the fastest way to get a thread deleted.

Wow just took a break from Monday night poker game to see the mess that is called Big Daddy (Momma). I think Big Momma is proving my point with all his ranting and raving. Stallion is right we never out recruited any SWC teams when I was here. We were still in the SWC and every year had several players that could have gone to the lower level SWC schools. Like TCU, Rice, Houston and even Baylor. One of my teamates Jason Wolfe was a high school all american and came all the way from Michigan after turning down an offer from Michigan and other Big 10 schools. Stallion will back me up on that. I'm not saying we were out recruiting Texas, TAM and Arkansas because we were't. But you have to remember SMU was a top 25 teams just 2 years prior to 1988 in 1986 before the season went to craps with sactions. SMU wasn't thought of like it is now, we still had some respect. Tre Giller transfered to OK during the death penalty and after starting for OK transferd back and started and right tackle for us. If your so smart tell me why he would do that. I had offers from OK state, Tulsa and TCU and interest that I did not persue from the said mentioned schools, Tech, Houston, Rice. Big Momma I find it interesting how you seem to know more about me than me. I know probably 30 plus people that read this board daily and another 10 who post every day and most know my screen name, why would I lie.
I know my spelling sucks I have big fingers.

Yep I forgot about Wolfe- he was probably the most highly recruited. I thought about listing Giller but he was a throw back from the old regime that wanted to finish at SMU after going to OU.

Big Momma, the year after I graduated in 1992 we knocked off 3 SWC foes, TCU, Houston and Rice and also beat I believe N texas and New Mexico and lost a couple of close ones and went 5-6. Those were big wins for us and I knew all those guys and for you to spout off like you no more about all this than us is what pisses me off. We lived it! Until the SWC folded SMU was not in as bad of shape as we are now. In fact Rossley had things going in the right direction and his recruiting was't that bad. But I forget you know more about everything SMU because your older and wiser. Give me a break. You probably never been to a game before Jwill came to SMU. If Forrest Gregg heard the trash you talked about SMU and than called yourself a fan he'd put his fist in your head, and that's a fact!!
