Patience my fellow Mustangs fansPlease be patient with this coaching search. This new coach is a big decision for SMU football. It is important that Orisni interviews, talks to, and investigates all possibilities. The last thing we want is a 'knee-jerk' hire. I am very encouraged at the list of candidates that have surfaced, especially compared to previous coaching searches. The amount of money being thrown out for the new coach is a sign that SMU is ready to start winning. The marketing campaign this year was great except the season did not go so well. The fact we hired an AD that had a great track record is another sign that SMU is starting to get serious about athletics. I also was encourgaged that some of the restrictions hindering SMU recruiting was briefly brought up on Bennett's press conference. The bottom line is we are going to get a proven winner for a head coach and Orsini and the Administration recongize and are making changes to allow SMU to compete on a more level playing field. Things are looking bright for SMU football and I have not been able to say that in a long, long time.

It is time for Orsini to STOP the slow walking and see what coaches are ready to PONY UP !!!
maybe our standards are WAY TOO DAMN HIGH... we should have just hired Gary Barnett once he said he wanted the job...
Don't be grumpy..be fun, be upbeat, people are alive around here, BH, please don't rain on that...I have never seen it like this, I have goosebumps!! Long Live COACH!
That's the kind of thinking that got us J.T. to begin with. We could get Barnett today if we wanted him. We don't.
I think a lot of qualified candiates are interested in this job. I also think that is a reason we have not announced a coach yet. It is not like we are choosing from assistant coordinators no one had really heard much about. The list (we know about from reports) has mentioned some very qualified coaches. In fact, these coaches are proven winners. I am thrilled that guys like Bowden, Barnett, and Neuhisel have expressed some interest in the SMU job. A new coach will be hired soon and we will be enthusiastic about the new coach and the coming years. Look at Baylor, they have a new coach already. Would you be happy with an Art Briles? I wouldn't. SMU is aiming higher. Be patient folks because a decision will be made soon and you will be excited about it.
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Because of what the next line says, I will refrain from continuing this song
