Have to say SMU is only 33% likely to get Johnson right now. Equally likely he goes to Tech or stays at Navy. How do you like them odds? So, who gets this job if Johnson evaporates? Forget Bowden and Barnett, they have no legs with Turner. Nominations please. I say we better get a plane up to Buffalo. The wildcard is Neuheishal though. Is he clean enough for Turner and the trustees liking? He got what amounts to a pardon from the NCAA, which is far better than what SMU got.

I'd say it's sixes between SMU and Navy at this point. I don't think he's going to GT.

There is no one in Buffalo that would be a candidate for the SMU job based on what SteveO has said are his requirements.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

if I have beat it to death, then you know what you need to know. MAC Coach of the Year etc. Lets flip this around and you tell me who SMU is willing and able to hire that is better if Johnson falls through. That is the what-if I posed. WILLING and ABLE to hire being the operative double criteria. SMU appears to only want a coach with a pristine history.

Rumor over the weekend was June Jones was the number 2 candidate. Although Larry Coker was an early candidate mentioned, and GJF's plane is still in Miami....

What about a current NFL assistant with head coaching experience:
1. Dom Capers
2. Mike Martz
3. Marty Schottenheimer (I know, long shot)
4. Jim Hasslett
5. Mike Shula
6. Dave Campo (joking)
7. Greg Knapp (Former 49ers OC, and Falcons OC under Mora Jr.)
8. George Seifert
9. Mike Nolan (after the season of course)
10. Jim Mora Sr.

Marty isn't as long of a shot as you may think. i heard that name from the mouth of someone in an executive position at the school. Remember who he worked for in KC for a few years. Same guys who were founding (funding) members of the Circle of Champions.

Score-- It's Dom Capers!
On January 23, 2006, the Miami Dolphins announced the hiring of Dom Capers as the team's defensive coordinator. There, he serves as assistant head coach. With a annual salary of $2.6 million, Capers is the highest paid assistant coach in the National Football League, alongside Washington Redskins assistant head coach Gregg Williams.[1]

If PJ did stay in Dallas and not return to Maryland late today, then I bet SMU made a deal with Coach Johnson. We should hear something in 48 hrs.
