What we should have expected (in hindsight)

we are all tired of hearing the "we are young" excuse and I will be the 1st to acknowledge that there are Frosh and Sophs playing and contributing at programs all over the country, but I find it amazing that in looking at our roster, we have only 10 seniors and 10 juniors (the juniors include the two transfers who are sitting this year) who contribute as part of our 2-deep. Not sure how many programs have that going for (or against) them.

Very interesting. Never heard Bennett talk quite so honestly about the youth aspect. What jumped out at me was the part about it being "painfully obvious that some of our younger players are passing some of our older players," or something like that. Truth hurts? Or sets you free?

And only half of those seniors are fifth year seniors.

Our past recruiting classes may have bottomed out but I still would match our Junior and Senior class against Tulsa and UTEP, I think we still out would out athlete them. There seems to be a significant lack of leadership on the team, like most problems it is a combination of several factors lack of player leadership, new inexperienced head coach, talent problems that so far has been unable to overcome a mistake in a game, let alone the obvious lack of focus the team now displays.

I would still like to know Tulsa's formula their own radio broadcast magnified SMU's talent differential over Tulsa's.

Stallion- If you think it is a talent issue when you are ranked below IVY league schools and about 1/2 of d1aa then I think you may be the blind bat. While I agree with you regarding talent level needed to compete with real football schools, I doubt very seriously that when you compare D1aa schools and the Ivy league that you will find that SMU lacks talent to compete with them. That is the point I am making. Not what we haved to do to get to the Top 50. The last Sagarin rating I saw had us rated no. 173. There are only 117 D1 schools so where does that put us in comparison to D1aa? Do you really believe that our recruiting class of any year ranks below that of all D1 compeitiors? If so, I would like to see your facts. If memory serves me right, you ususally have had SMU's claases in the top 100 although not by much.
