I am really hoping he struts out at half time of the basketball game tonight.

And thanks, assuming this deal goes through, I'll have about 20 questions for you already gathered. Welcome to the board.... I hope for our sake that you do become an instant fan.... as in, well you know... SMU hiring PJ.

Go ahead and ask, I can't promise to know everything, but I'll certainly give it a shot (or go back through my old media guides to try to find out.)

I was trying to remember how many times they threw per game in those national championship years. While nothing like these spread offenses, I seem to recall games where they put it up 20 times a game because the defense was stacking 8-9 guys in the box.

Actually, I like the guy who is coaching at Ga Southern today...very creative offense. Lots of gadget plays...but they are pretty safe calls and look like new variations off the basic option offense. Enjoyed their game against Citadel this year.

The 1999 national championship game may not be the best example for the ability to throw the ball. In that game (which the won 59-27, I think) they completed one pass for 17 yards. But they ran for more than 500 yards that day, so there wasn't a need to throw.

PJ used to say that they really only needed to throw 15 times a game to keep the defense honest. He'd rather run and you can't argue with his success.

I like the GSU coach (Chris Hatcher) as well. I'm hoping he stays for a while. He's been rumored as well for the Georgia Tech job, but the feeling I'm getting from my friends in the know is that he's going to stay at GSU for another year.

Thanks for the kind words about the Citadel game. My wife's family is from outside of Charleston, so we make every GSU/Citadel game (she works at GSU and I'm going back to Grad School at GSU now.) I think they play up there next season, so if you decide to go to the game, let me know.
