Over at Stingtalk (GT board) they have two threads posted almost at the same time saying that a press conference will be called to announce PJ the coach while another thread says GT offered 1.8 and SMU offered 2.2 and said SMU would go higher! :shock:

All right, kids. Thought this was kind of interesting. You've probably seen it all if you have followed the GT board at Stingtalk, but their Yoda--a guy named Demjackets, who they seem to trust with all the inside info--seems to think that PJ is a no go over there.

The incentive based salary thing is what struck me the most. Plus, it was posted around the time of the alleged interview. That must have been their counter offer--couldn't match our salary, but if he beats Georgia, wins the ACC, wins a BCS bowl......etc. Then they can hit it, but it's only guaranteed if he wins. Doesn't sound like a good deal to me. I'd take the cash--especially since the stingtalkers are also saying Orsini's bid was 2.2 and we're willing to go higher.

Also of note--he claims the Sunday interview with GT occured and the word from that one was that they would have to beat the SMU bid. Could mean he said that in the interview before GJF picked him up. This was posted, of course, after they knew what the SMU bid was, so that could have been word from his agent. However, it was before he was back in ATL, so.......

Kind of interesting to see his thoughts over the past two days all lined up if you search Demjackets over there. Here are the PJ/SMU related posts if anyone is interested (note "yesterday" is 12/5):

His package was going to be highly incentive based, which is why he wont take it.

PJ interviewed Sunday as well, we would have to beat the SMU offer and thats not happening. Unless he wants to take less money to be at Tech its not happening.

PJ is at SMU right now discussing the option of taking that job. So its not a done deal yet. Might be but not yet.
