Get Dodge and spend the rest of that cash on sweet assitants... the guy can run an offense. Get him a D-Coordinator and we're set.

Were you born at the time? Horrible recruiter? OK-and I guess that's because you actually followed OU recruiting?

No, not drunk, yes was born then, yes have followed OU recruiting for about 30 years. Once again, he was a horrible recruiter, his prize recruit was Cale Gundy (I'm 40! I am a man little brother) who turned out to be a big disappointment. Tried to put in a pro style offense with a bunch of option style talent. Players hated him, fans hated him more. Once again, why has he not received a sniff from ANYONE if he is what you say he is.

Stallion, how many schools have offered Charlie Waters a head coaching gig in the last five years. I thought so.

In fairness to Charlie Waters, he made it clear that the SMU job was the only college coaching job that he had any interest in. He had just gone thru his own family tragedy and it was the reason he had gotten out of coaching (wanting to be home with his family in Dallas). I seriously doubt he's applied anywhere since Copeland rejected him.

Dodge wouldn't have lost to Abilene High last week. I know that.

I was fighting the "he's just a high school coach" crowd as hard as you were Stallion.

Todd Dodge will be a great coach-I am on the record!

Let's see how many of you can spot the qualities of a great Coach BEFORE they are great. Just like with Todd Graham I say that Todd Dodge would be a great Head Coach for SMU. Not my first choice but it appears that Johnson, Barnett, Bowden, Franchione, Neuheisal and all the other big names are not availiable despite large amounts of cash. Now we are looking at the Troy Calhouns of the world to run still more option . I don't want a poll-I want names, addresses and ID cards so I can rub this in your faces in a few years

Dodge is in the best possible situation he can be in until he gets the UT job. He is just gaining some valuable HC experience until that time comes. He will be mediorcre at best while at UNT. Not a good post Stallion, but I am working with you. Dodge is safe. He was safe a SLC with only one HS, and he is safe at UNT where nobody care if he wins or loses. Just don't [deleted] anybody off. His time will come to be the HC at UT. Predicting a good HC is like prediciting how long your marriage will last. It all depends on the circumstances.

26-45 if you exclude his SLC record...not great but much better than no coach I guess

2-10 in DI

Uh, not much better, but he is better than 2-10 in D1...he was UNT's Offensive Coordinator from 1991-1993, I believe. Not head coach...but coached D1.

OK, here we go,
Cameron Yoe -- a small school that has never been a consistent playoff power.
Newman Smith -- outside of R.L Turner, one of the worst 5A area programs in the area because of where it draws from. The fact he squeezed 9-11 in two years there is extraordinary.
Fossil Ridge -- At the time, it was the new high school in the Keller ISD so it was building its enrollment. A three-win jump from the first to second year is noteworty.
Carroll -- Legend Bob Ledbetter made that call to bring Dodge there, so he must have seen something. You don't win a slew of games because you stink at it.
UNT -- first year at his program. Want to give him a little time to see what he can do before passing judgment.

Great coach. Would be a great fit here.

I know for a fact Dodge's agent contacted SMU about the opening, I was told he was given the big thumbs down because he didn't have enough head coaching experience in college. I think Dodge would have done better for himself to go to a div 1 school as a OC. He could have racked big offensive #'s and shortly been on a short list for a top job. I think he screwed himself going to ntsu. Personally I think he's obviously a great offensive mind but unproven at the college level as a head coach. I still think if he was brought in as an asst head coach and OC under a seasoned head coach like maybe Fran, Barnett, Shula, Chan or any of the top choices talked about he would be great. I doubt we could hire him as a HC alone after his record this year at ntsu.

If Dodge would dump UNT after one season, we don't want him. Graham is just like him. Hell, he nearly left Tulsa after one year, didn't he?
