I am sure they must have some family connections. Does not matter anyway. Both want to win in the game they play.
Our Ford is from Pampa. I sure the Detroit Fords would turn there noses down on a simple Panhandle boy

yeah, this made me laugh. Cause you're right, and yet you're so wrong.
Ford and Ford Motors do want to win in their respective fields, one at being an educator, and the other at making cars.
Both lack the same drive to win football games.
Case and Point: The ford family owns the Lions. We're kinda like the Lions of College Football. They have Matt Millen, we had Copeland and Bennett.

No, phxfan, they don't, at least not in any meaningful and/or historic way. Not the POTUS either. This is a different guy whose money came from finance. Specifically, he is the former Founder & Chairman of Golden State Bancorp, which owned CalFed Bank (California Federal) in California (duh), Auto One (in Dallas), and a host of other financial entities. He sold out to Citicorp/Citibank, which is why you see all of those new Citibank branches showing up in California...they were CalFed. He lives in Dallas, and by and large ran his financial mini-empire from D, not unlike Lamar Hunt did the Chiefs. He's a very private person, and he is a devoted donor to SMU. But he wants results...period. Guys with that level of success tend to be that way. Go figure.
It really does not matter. He may or may not be related to the Fords. What matters is he seems committed to this school. I was trying to define a boundry to this. Bill Gates, 150 billion/Bill Ford 1.5 billion. So where does GF fit in?? How much $ does he have?? The Hunt thing makes me think about M.S. Chiefs, S.D. and SMU.

But, both Ford families are committed to their Mustangs.

If GF doubles the offer, let's put up a 150-foot statue of him in the south end zone of Ford Stadium. You know, like the one of Sam Houston on I-45 near Huntsville, Tex.

If Gf is as rich as Bill Gates,(he is not) or even Bill Ford Jr. $ should not be a problem.

SMU should not have a $ problem. So someone try to figure up who's next. It may end up that I was right and we get S. Mariucci. There are 2 Ford fields in the US. One in Detroit and one in Dallas. GF may like his name.

Phxfan wrote:Does anyone with half an ego think this is done. As far as PJ is concerned it maybe done. GF is a businessman, as are most that put $ into this. They are not going to walk away looking like losers. They want to win. They define themselves as winners. They are in so deep now they will not back out. They will up the ante and get a coach that will really be a WOW. This thing has gotten bigger than anyone knew. The next coach will be a bigger WOW than PJ. I have know idea how much GF is worth. If he has anything near Bill Gates, it's around 150 Billion dollars. Bill Ford Jr. is worth around 1.5 Billion dollars. If he is even close to those two $3/4/5 million is nothing to him. I don't expect they will accept anyone that's not a bit higher on the chain. This is going up not down.

Never said GF was part of FMC. Review your posts. I wish they were.

This is all I will post. I am not intending to argue. Just pointing out that you did think there was a family connection between Gerald Ford and the Ford Motor Company.
