EdWiz-
I agree with you completely about that. I'm not even sure what we were arguing about and am too tired to go back and look.
But it is good to know that on top of the many ladies you get, you played ball, and dominated the academics at SMU. Exactly how good do you have to do to dominate? Was it just one or two majors or just flat out total domination of the entire schools curriculam?
I'm just giving you a hard time. I think what some people are getting at about the number of posts is there are quite a few that have joined OCT 2003 just because of personal reasons or to kick the dog when its down.

The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

While Bish has certainly done wonderful things the last four years, I think he was benched because he made a very bad play and did exactly what Gush told him not to do at least that's the DMN read on it. Bennett knew that he couldn't play favorites and used Bish to make a statement that everyone would understand. I'm sure he'll be on the field soon, but certainly may start sharing time with some younger guys to get them some experience.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

i just used the word dominate to support my argument that we are not idiots, and i know academics and football are totally different but i feel my knowledge in that area is pretty good also. yeah i just joined because it got the point where i couldnt stand it anymore. Nobody is kicking the dog while he is down. those are not my intentions. I just find some things i dont agree with and wanted to reply. im behind the players 100% and i wish them good luck.

why don't you get behind the program 100%? More indication that you have an axe to grind of some kind.

why don't you get behind the "program" 100% and not just some players? More indication that you have an axe to grind of some kind.

Some of us posters to come out of the woodworks are longtime visitors that never felt the urge to post, until recently when we realized how much spin is often placed for the program to the publics. We support the players and coaches alike, my only problem is I wish Bennett would manage players and coaches more effectively and with more professionalism, because until he does, he will lose his team well before he loses any games, and the man has worked too hard, too long to be this large of a flop. We don't have axes to grind, we just want to see progress for what is solidying itself as the laughing stock of college football.

Well I'm glad to hear that a lot of you have been longtime visitors. I'm no longer on campus so I don't know how the players feel. All I know is that when I was there, they were relatively happy.
Although Bennett was known for his post-game scream fests. I'll give ya'll that.
EdWiz - Who exactly does McAndless think I am and how the hell does he know me?
And btw your comments hurt

Abezontar said, and i quote,
"I've said this before and I will again, as I am sure many others will as well, if you fire Bennett now you doom SMU to continued sup-par performance for a long time."
To also comment on an earlier post, since i too am a rookie and because i started this thread. Bleeding Red & Blue since the 70s and having seen what has become of our ONCE ILLUSTRIOUS (albeit tainted, hee hee) program I had to speak up, thus the ROOKIE status I have. I enjoy visiting the board and seeing what is being said for insight, but after the way this season has gone and not EVER having experience TWO straight 0-7 starts to a season I knew it was time for my voice to be heard. Sorry if it seems to some of you I am jumping on a bandwagon of doomsaying or some such, that is not the case!
Abezontar, sub-par performance???? HOw is 0-8??? 3-9 the previous year?? That too me is BELOW sub-par!! That is wretched! I do not think we would suffer a "setback" since Bennett has only been here two years. If he had been here three years (like will happen after next season), THEN you will see us DOOMED FOR SUB-PAR PERFORMANCE for a LONG TIME, since three of his recruiting classes will be eating up space at the Hilltop. Then the next coach who wants to play HIS PLAYERS will get backlash from Bennett's players!! If that comment in an early post is true...That is why I am trying to see if there is support for removing Bennett NOW! I think it is imperative that we show the team, the fans, alums and the nation that we will not accept DEFEAT. Under Bennett that is about all we are getting for the $$s we are paying...I feel he has shown us enough of his LACK of coaching ability that ONE more YEAR will not help us. Look at it in a business sense (since that is what it is) if you have an employee that is failing to deliver a product or a result to you, you may give him a couple chances to redeem himself/herself, but at some point (games, seasons) you go ahead and pull the plug because this person just doesn't GET IT. Bennett doesn't get it (it being HEAD COACHING at the D-IA level). I still remember last year and again this year, he says "we will compete for the WAC title this season" Last year that sounded real good to us when he showed up, all firey and rah rah, this year i was like, uh, did you sign Moss and Dickerson in the offseason to go with the FA pick up of Favre, because this 3-9 team don't look like it will win more than 6 or 7 games TOPS! Now, we pray we can UPSET (upset???) MINUTE rice in two weeks for ONE lowly victory. Unless, we played BASEBALL, upset and Rice should never be in the same sentence for SMU football OR basketball!!
Cheerio!
P.S. I pray the players play competitive today versus Cal State U. - Fresno so that we don't have a Boiset St / Okla. St score flashed across the nation!!

It is now up to Bennett...if he is a good "manager", a good head-coach, then he will be re-examining his own direct reports, not just the players. He is only going to be as good as his team and his team is made up of his coaching staff. If he doesn't recognize the need to make some real changes then he shouldn't continue to be a head coach. But, assistant coaches that obviously are not producing and bickering amongst one another in front of the fans certainly don't represent a "team".

I think its cool that we are getting some fresh blood from the new posters. But as you are attacking Bennett remember that this program has about a 23% or so winning record since the DP. Bennett certainly didn't cause that. Perhaps there is something much more fundamental at work here. Many of those recruiting obstacles have been removed(not all) but we wouldn't really see the results for at least 2 more years. That's why I don't get the 'we were competitive under Rossley" crap you hear on here. You're comparing horrible to terrible. I want to excell like TCU. What needs to be done to reach those goals. That is the issue.
